Jawline Thread Lifting in Cheongdam, Gangnam, Seoul

Threads along a jaw border are sold by the line, and each line is bought for the direction it pulls in. This page sets out the vectors used at the mandible, what a thread can and cannot move there, and the two thread types on our card.

Definition

What a jawline thread lift does along the mandibular border

Jawline thread lifting places fine absorbable threads under the skin of the lower face and uses the barbs or cones along them to carry descended tissue up and behind the jaw border, so the mandible reads as one clean edge again. The change is mechanical and shows on the day. Nothing is cut, and the threads break down over months.

Two words do the work. Vector is the direction a thread pulls in; anchor is the point in firmer tissue where that pull is held. A jaw border answers to threads because the tissue blurring it has travelled downward and forward along a predictable path, and a thread set on the reverse path takes it back. The procedure across every facial area is on the thread lift page; this one stays at the mandible.

Jaw width is a separate question, coming from the chewing muscle and answering to botulinum toxin; a jaw angle that never projected is structural, and belongs to jawline filler. A thread moves tissue that has travelled. It builds no bone line and relaxes no muscle.

A thread arrives loaded in a cannula, and the cannula is what decides the path it can travel under the skin.
Vectors

The vector is what you are buying, and at the jaw it runs up and back

Four parts of one jawline thread, in the order they are planned on your EVE Muse 3D scan.

PART 01

The anchor, set in firmer tissue above

Every thread pulls against something. At the mandible the holding point sits above and behind the border, in tissue that has not travelled. An anchor set in slack tissue migrates with it, and the lift goes with it.

PART 02

The path across the lower cheek

The cannula travels a planned line between anchor and target, at a depth chosen so the thread sits under the skin without tethering it. That depth is the difference between a smooth pull and a visible one.

PART 03

The grip that catches descended tissue

Barbs along a PDO or PCL thread, or paired cones on a Silhouette Soft line, engage tissue that has dropped onto the jaw and hold it where the director places it. Grip is what converts a path into a lift.

PART 04

The angle of pull the mirror shows

Pull a jaw border straight up and the cheek bunches. Pull it back without lifting and the line stays soft. The mandible wants an oblique angle between the two, drawn on your own scan before a cannula is opened.

Thread count follows from all four, and it is the last number settled. A border blurred along its whole length needs more lines than one softened only at the angle, and each line is its own figure on your quote at ₩100,000 (≈ $70).

Two Thread Types

Barbed PDO/PCL lines and Silhouette Soft cones on a jaw border

Both are absorbable, both are placed by vector, both are published per line.

ThreadHow it holds tissueSold inWhere it fits at the mandibleListed rate
PDO / PCL barbed threadFine cogs cut or moulded along the body of the thread engage tissue at several points down its lengthPer threadThe everyday line for a border that has blurred along its length, and the one most jaw plans are built from₩100,000 (≈ $70)
Silhouette Soft cone threadPaired cones set in opposing directions hold from two sides of a knot, giving firmer fixation at fewer pointsPer threadChosen where the border needs stronger purchase than a barbed line gives, alone or in a mixed plan₩400,000 (≈ $285)

Two published lines, one border. Which your plan uses, and in what mix, comes from skin thickness and how far the tissue has travelled. The whole card sits on the published price list, and the lifting and tightening page places threads beside every energy platform here.

Directors at Dear Clinic have completed the Silhouette Soft hands-on workshop (certificate of attendance). Cone and barbed threads behave differently under the hand, and technique does not transfer between them unchanged.

Reach

What a thread at the jaw can reposition, and what it leaves untouched

Four limits, each of which redirects an enquiry to another room on these floors.

It moves tissue that has travelled. Soft fullness forward of the border, a jowl beginning to break the line, a lower cheek that has slid — each has a start point and an end point, and a vector can run between them. The jowl sagging page covers that finding in its own right.
It does not tighten skin that has only thinned. Where the border is still in place and the complaint is crepe or slackness across the surface, there is nothing to reposition. Pulling thin skin produces tension without definition, and we say so at the consultation.
It does not reduce a heavy lower face. A thread carries tissue without taking any away. Where the weight under the border is substantial, a vector lifts the load a short distance and stalls, and the plan says so plainly.
It does not replace bone. A short chin or an undefined angle gives the skin no edge to drape over. Threads pulled across that anatomy tighten a surface with no line beneath it, so the reading sends those faces to structure work.

One more limit belongs here. Threads are absorbable, so the mechanical lift is finite by design, and collagen laid down along each path carries on afterwards. How long that holds varies with age, skin thickness, weight change and how far the tissue had travelled, so your director gives you a conservative expectation and a review date.

Combining

Running jawline threads beside the energy platforms on these two floors

Threads move tissue; energy asks tissue to contract. Faces often present with both findings at once.

PAIR 01

Threads with focused ultrasound at the border

Ultherapy Prime places energy in discrete points at 1.5, 3.0 and 4.5 mm with imaging to 8 mm, addressing deep support a vector cannot supply. Shurink Universe covers the same family at a different session size. Whether either shares a visit with threads is a decision your director makes on the day.

PAIR 02

Threads with radiofrequency across the skin

Thermage FLX heats a wide dermal field through a sealed tip, which answers the surface quality a thread never touches. Sequencing matters more than pairing here, and the interval is written into your plan.

PAIR 03

Threads after a muscle or structure question is settled

Where width from the chewing muscle or a short chin is also present, those are settled first, because a vector drawn over an unsettled base has to be drawn again. How toxin slims a jawline covers the muscle side.

The straight comparison between the two families — mechanical against thermal, same day against weeks — is laid out on thread lift versus HIFU and radiofrequency. One paper in the reference list below examines that pairing directly, which is why the question is raised at diagnosis.

Read any jaw comparison with the chin at the same height in both frames, because two centimetres of chin lift sharpens a border by itself. Swelling also flatters a jaw early on, so a seven-day image carries vector and swelling together. Your own review is set for a point where the two have separated.

Dear, Knowhow

Why a jawline thread plan is drawn differently here

01 — THE FULL ARSENAL

Threads are one option on a floor holding seven lifting platforms

Ultherapy Prime, Thermage FLX, Density, XERF, Onda, New Titanium and Shurink Universe sit across 5F and 7F beside the toxin and filler lines. No console needs your booking to stay busy, so a consultation ending in no threads costs us nothing to give.

02 — DIAGNOSIS FIRST

The vector map comes out of an EVE Muse 3D reading

The face is captured in three dimensions under five light sources with AI analysis, and the direction your lower face has travelled is read before a thread type is named. Every line on the quote traces back to a vector on the map.

03 — DIRECTOR-PERFORMED

The hand that drew the vector runs the cannula

Angle, depth and symmetry decide what a jaw thread does, and all three live in the hand. Your session is director-performed by the doctor who read your scan, each side checked against the other before the next line goes in.

Pricing

What jawline thread lifting
costs in Cheongdam

Threads are published per line. A PDO/PCL barbed thread is ₩100,000 (≈ $70) and a Silhouette Soft cone thread is ₩400,000 (≈ $285). Your total is that figure multiplied by the vectors your jaw border needs, done in front of you at the consultation before anything is opened.

Per-line pricing is easy to audit, which is why it is published that way. A focused plan at the angle of the jaw is a handful of lines; a border blurred from chin to angle on both sides is more. You approve the count and the arithmetic before the first pass, and lines are not added once a session has begun.

International visitors pay the same published figures as Korean patients, with no surcharge. Korean won is what you actually pay; a USD figure beside it is an approximate reference. Consultation and aftercare arrangements are explained at your appointment.

If the scan says your border has not travelled far enough for a vector to earn its line, that is the sentence you get, and it costs us the booking.

Caution

Dimpling, asymmetry and the other risks of threads along the jaw

Dimpling at an entry or exit point. A small pucker where skin is caught by a barb is the commonest visible complaint after a jaw thread. Most settle as swelling resolves; a persistent one is reviewed and addressed, never left indefinitely.
Asymmetry between the two sides. Two jaw borders rarely start level, and swelling arrives unevenly. A difference seen in the first days is usually swelling. A difference still there at the review is the vector, which is what the review exists to catch.
A thread that announces itself. A palpable end, a firm line felt under the skin, or visible contouring along the path can occur, more readily in thin skin over a bony border. Depth of placement is the control, which is why it is planned before the pass.
Bruising, swelling and a pulling sensation. Expect all three in the first days, most noticeably along the lower cheek. Wide mouth movements, hard chewing and facial massage wait while the threads anchor, sleeping face-up helps, and alcohol, saunas and hard exercise wait too.
Infection, and when to stop waiting. Redness spreading from an entry point, increasing pain, discharge or fever means contacting the clinic immediately, ahead of the review. Comfort measures during the session are confirmed at your consultation.

Numbness or altered sensation along the jaw can follow any work in this field and usually resolves. Scar tissue from surgery or earlier threads changes how a vector behaves, so disclose it before the map is drawn.

FAQ

Jawline thread lifting, question by question

What exactly does a thread change at the jaw border?
It carries tissue that has descended onto the border back up and behind it along a planned direction, so the edge between face and neck reads as one line again. The barbs or cones grip that tissue and hold it there. The mechanical part shows on the day; collagen along each path continues afterwards.
How much does jawline thread lifting cost in Cheongdam, Seoul?
It is published per line: ₩100,000 (≈ $70) for a PDO/PCL barbed thread and ₩400,000 (≈ $285) for a Silhouette Soft cone thread. Your total is that rate multiplied by the vectors your border needs, agreed with you at the consultation. The same published figures apply to visitors and to Korean patients.
How many threads does a jawline need?
It depends on how much of the border has lost its edge and how far the tissue has travelled. A plan aimed at the angle alone uses fewer lines than one running chin to angle on both sides. The count comes from your EVE Muse scan and is approved by you, each line priced separately, before the first pass.
What is the difference between barbed threads and Silhouette Soft at the jaw?
Grip and rate. A barbed PDO or PCL line engages tissue at many small points along its length, at ₩100,000 (≈ $70). A Silhouette Soft line holds with paired cones in opposing directions, firmer purchase at fewer points, at ₩400,000 (≈ $285). Skin thickness and degree of descent decide the mix.
Can threads sharpen a jaw that was never defined?
No. A thread repositions tissue that has moved; it creates no bone line underneath. Where the chin is short or the angle never projected, tightening skin over that anatomy changes very little, and the reading sends the plan toward structure work. You are told so at the consultation, before any line is placed.
Will a thread lift fix jowls, or is that a different problem?
A jowl made of soft tissue that has slid forward of the border is exactly what a vector is for, and it is the commonest reason a jaw thread is booked. A heavy lower face carrying real volume is a different finding, since a thread carries weight without taking it away.
What is a dimple after a jaw thread, and will it settle?
It is a small pucker where skin has been caught by a barb, usually near an entry or exit point. Most soften as swelling resolves and the tissue releases over the following days. A dimple still present at your review is assessed by the director who placed the thread, and it is addressed, and not left to time.
How visible is the recovery, and how long is the pulling sensation?
Swelling and possible bruising along the lower cheek are the visible part, with a tight, pulling feeling as the threads anchor. Both peak in the first days and then ease. Wide mouth movements, hard chewing, facial massage, alcohol, saunas and intense exercise wait; your director sets the period.
Can jawline threads be combined with Ultherapy Prime or Thermage FLX?
Often they are sequenced, because they answer different findings: threads move tissue, focused ultrasound and radiofrequency ask it to contract. Whether two share one appointment is decided on the day by the director who read your scan, and the interval is written into the plan.
Do the threads stay in my face?
No. Both types placed here are absorbable and are broken down by the body over months, leaving stimulated collagen along the paths they travelled. Nothing remains in the tissue afterwards, which is why a review decides what comes next instead of a fixed calendar interval.
Can I have jawline threads on the same day as my consultation?
Usually, if the scan and the director confirm the vectors and you approve the count and the total. Our same-day treatment page sets out what fits into one visit and what we ask you to stage. The clinic is open 365 days a year, so a first swollen day can land on a weekend or a public holiday.
I am visiting Seoul — how should I place a thread session in my trip?
Early. Swelling, bruising and the pulling sensation peak in the first days, so leave yourself room in Korea after the appointment and keep it clear of the night before a flight. Send your dates through the form and we reply in English as soon as possible with whether the plan is realistic for the window you have.
