Two machines, two depths. Ultherapy Prime places focused ultrasound down to the SMAS at 4.5 mm; Thermage FLX heats the dermis across a whole zone at once. This page sets out what each one does, what each costs in Cheongdam, and how a director decides which layer your face is asking about.
Ultherapy Prime carries DeepSEE imaging, so the director watches your layers on screen while treating and can confirm that the 4.5 mm line is landing where the scan said it would; visualisation runs to 8 mm on Prime, against 4.5 mm on the classic unit. Thermage FLX calibrates every pulse with AccuREP and works through a 600-shot tip. Both machines are in this building. What decides between them is the EVE Muse 3D scan: how thick your skin is, and which layer your laxity actually occupies.
Row by row, the two platforms as they are run in Cheongdam. On a phone the table slides sideways while the labels hold their place.
| Ultherapy Prime | Thermage FLX | |
|---|---|---|
| Technology | High-intensity focused ultrasound (HIFU / MFU-V) | Monopolar radiofrequency (RF) |
| Maker | Merz Aesthetics | Solta Medical |
| Main goal | Lifting at the deep SMAS layer | Tightening & texture in the dermis |
| Depth of action | Focused at 1.5 / 3.0 / 4.5 mm; images to 8 mm | Dermis, heated broadly across the zone |
| Signature feature | Live DeepSEE imaging — the doctor sees your layers while treating | AccuREP calibration on every pulse; 600-shot full-face tip |
| Best for | Genuine sag — jawline, mid-face descent, dropped elasticity | Overall firmness and fine surface crepiness |
| Sensation | Heat and deep prickling at depth; topical numbing applied | Heat pulses with brief tightening; cooling & comfort measures |
| Results build | Builds as collagen remodels; timing varies by individual | Builds gradually over the following weeks |
| Downtime | Practically none — mild redness settles in days | Little to none — mild redness settles quickly |
| Session unit | Planned in 100-shot units from the scan | One 600-shot tip per full-face session |
| Price at Dear | ₩400,000 / 100 shots | ₩2,200,000 / 600 shots |
| Combined use | Yes — HIFU lifts the SMAS, RF tightens the dermis | Yes — sequenced from a single diagnosis |
The table sets out what each device does. Which of them goes on your chart is settled after the EVE Muse scan measures your skin thickness and locates the depth of your laxity.
The same person can be a HIFU case at 35 and an RF-plus-HIFU case at 50. Depth decides it. Three patterns cover most faces that come through the consultation room, and the EVE Muse scan places you in one of them.
A jawline that has softened, a mid-face that has descended, elasticity that has genuinely fallen — concerns rooted in the deep support layer respond to a focused-ultrasound lift more than to surface heating.
Skin that reads a little loose or crepey on the surface, without pronounced structural drooping, is usually better served by broad dermal RF tightening than by a deep lift it doesn't yet need.
Many faces — often from the mid-forties on — carry both deep descent and surface looseness. Here a sequenced protocol, RF to tighten and HIFU to lift, addresses each at its own depth.

Ultherapy Prime and Thermage FLX are two of the eight lifting options kept in this building; Density, XERF, Onda, New Titanium, Shurink Universe and thread lifting make up the rest. The scan is what narrows that list to one line on your chart.
Three-dimensional capture under five light sources maps skin thickness zone by zone. Deep structural descent points at the 4.5 mm line; surface firmness points at the dermis; both readings together point at a sequence. The measurement is taken before any device is named.
Sometimes neither machine is the answer. Volume loss in the mid-face reads as sagging in the mirror but responds to filler, and we do not recommend HIFU for it.
Dear holds Merz certification for Ultherapy under Dr. Jemin Kim and Dr. Seonhaeng Lee, with the genuine-device plaque on the wall, and Thermage certification for three consecutive years with genuine tips. Those matter more than the plaques suggest. A HIFU line placed at the wrong depth spends shots for nothing or leaves a bruise, and radiofrequency stacked in one spot can burn. Every session here is performed by our directors, who set the depth, the line count and the energy from what the scan showed.
| Session | Includes | Price |
|---|---|---|
| Ultherapy Prime — 100 shots | Base unit; plans are built in 100-shot increments for the deep SMAS lines | ₩400,000 (≈ $285) |
| Thermage FLX — 600 shots | Full-face dermal tightening through one 600-shot tip, AccuREP calibrated | ₩2,200,000 (≈ $1,570) |
| Eye Thermage — 450 shots | Delicate RF for the eye area | ₩2,200,000 (≈ $1,570) |
Published rates as of September 2026. The EVE Muse 3D scan, the director consultation and aftercare guidance are inside every quoted total. Nothing is added to that total once you have approved it.
Neither device suits every face. We do not recommend HIFU or radiofrequency over an active skin infection or inflamed acne inside the treatment zone, during pregnancy, or where an implanted electronic device sits in the field, and a mid-face that has lost volume goes to filler instead. Redness and warmth are expected afterwards. Bruising, swelling and a few days of tenderness are common; temporary numbness or tingling along a nerve branch is less common but does happen; burns and a hollow left where energy has been over-stacked are the rare failures both technologies share, and avoiding them is a question of depth, spacing and energy.

I've visited clinic for LDM procedure. I don't speak Korean, so there was an interpreter who assisted me while consulting. The staff was very attentive, they asked me every time before applying products/covering my face during the procedure and it went smoothly. Planning to visit the clini…
Had a great experience here as a foreigner! The doctors and staff were knowledgeable, friendly, and not pushy. They made recommendations in my consultation and were happy to work within my budget.
I did a hydrofacial, white/black head removal, and 1 day lasers. Really kind staff and reasonable prices. The only thing I would advise is that your first consultation is with a salesperson and you don’t see the doctor until after you decide what you want and after you pay.
Wonderful experience — friendly, professional staff, clear consultation with a thorough skin analysis, and visible results after my treatment; the clinic is clean and communicates aftercare clearly, highly recommended

This comparison at Dear Clinic is grounded in peer-reviewed clinical evidence for both technologies — micro-focused ultrasound with visualization (MFU-V) for deep-layer lifting, and monopolar radiofrequency for dermal tightening. The studies below inform the depth selection, treatment planning and safety protocols your director applies after your EVE 3D + AI diagnosis.
