Chin Filler

The chin carries the bottom third of the face, and a few tenths of a cc placed against the bone can change a profile that no amount of surface work will touch. Commonly 1 to 2 cc of firm gel, laid down deep and finished at the surface, planned from your own ratios.

About

Where the hyaluronic acid actually sits in a chin

Chin filler places hyaluronic acid (HA) at set depths along the chin to add projection, lengthen a short chin, balance a point that sits off-centre and clean up the line running from lip to jaw. Depth does most of the work here. The chin is a bone platform with a thin muscle laid over it, so the working plane is deep: firm gel goes down against the periosteum where it behaves like structure, and a small superficial pass afterwards smooths only what shows. Because the chin anchors the lower third of the face, a change measured in tenths of a cc is legible from the side.

Anatomy sets the limits. The mental foramen and the vessels leaving it sit to either side of the chin pad, which is why the deep pass stays central, goes in slowly and is aspirated before anything is delivered. Volume is written to 0.1 cc per plane across Deep, Mid and Superficial levels. Most chins treated here take 1 to 2 cc in total, and once the swelling has gone the profile reads longer and the front view more defined.

Where It Helps

What chin filler changes

Placement and volume come off the 3D scan. Four complaints bring most people to the chin, and they are not all answered the same way.

01

A chin sitting behind the lip line

When the point falls back behind the lower lip the whole profile softens. Bringing it forward against the bone is what changes that, and a millimetre or two of projection reads clearly from the side.

02

A short, round lower face

Here the shortfall is vertical height. Gel is stacked lower on the chin so the lower face lengthens, without pushing the point any further forward than it needs to go.

03

A soft lip-to-jaw line in profile

The lip, chin and jaw make one line in a side photograph. Projection at the point sharpens it. A jaw that is genuinely wide or heavy is a different treatment, and that gets said at the consultation.

04

An off-centre point

A chin whose point sits to one side is corrected by loading the shy side more heavily. Dimpled, orange-peel skin over the chin is a different matter: it comes from the mentalis muscle contracting underneath, and relaxing that muscle is what addresses it.

The Dear Chin Technique

Building the chin in four passes

The four stages below are the order the chin gets built in. The first two decide whether the result reads as structure or as a soft ball.

01
Dear Shape

Measuring the point against the lip line

The chin's height, how far its point sits relative to the lower lip, and the way the line carries on into the jaw and neck are all measured off the EVE Muse capture. Photographs are taken at rest and in profile, so the same two angles can be put side by side at review.

02
Dear LayerFill

Firm gel on the bone first

The deep pass goes supraperiosteal at the centre of the chin, where firm HA rests against bone and behaves like structure. Only once that projection is set does a small superficial pass smooth the surface. Volumes are small and delivered slowly, and the needle is aspirated before each one, because the vessels supplying the chin run close to where it is placed.

03
Dear BalanceControl

Checking the centre line between passes

The centre axis is marked before the first pass and rechecked against that mark after each one. A chin that started off-centre is corrected by loading the shy side, and the check happens with you sitting upright, because lying flat hides an asymmetry.

04
Dear LineFit

Blending into the crease and the neck

The last pass blends the fill into the labiomental crease below the lip and down towards the neck, so the profile runs as one line instead of stepping. You see it in a mirror before you leave.

What decides the volume in your chin

01 — ONE OR TWO SYRINGES

1 to 2 cc, and nothing above it on the list

Most chins here take 1 to 2 cc. There is no four-cc chin package on the price list, and where the profile does not need the second syringe we do not recommend buying it.

02 — THE SCAN

The profile is measured before any cc is set

EVE Muse captures the face in three dimensions under five light sources. Your bone structure, the lip line and the chin's ratio to the rest of the lower face decide how much gel goes in and where it sits. That number reaches the plan before a syringe is drawn up.

03 — DIRECTOR-PERFORMED

The anatomy under a chin, and why the hand matters

The inferior labial and submental vessels run close to where chin filler is delivered, and the mental foramen carries the nerve serving the lower lip; both are the reason the deep pass is kept central, slow and aspirated. Your treatment is performed by our directors. Bruising and two or three days of swelling are the ordinary outcomes here, a firm lump from too much gel in one spot is uncommon and is usually answered with hyaluronidase, and occlusion of a vessel is the rare emergency the whole technique is built to avoid.

How much does chin filler
cost in Seoul?

At Dear Clinic in Cheongdam, chin filler starts at ₩130,000 (≈ $95) per 1 cc with The Chaeum HA, and the imported gels sit above it on the list. Most chins take 1 to 2 cc, so a plan is normally quoted as one or two syringes. Korean patients and international visitors read from the same published list, and your total is settled at the consultation before any syringe is opened.

Caution

The first days after chin filler

Swelling around the chin and a small bruise at the entry point are the usual first two days.
The projection may look slightly fuller at first; it eases as swelling resolves.
Alcohol, saunas and hard training wait until the swelling has come down.
Don't press or massage the chin, and keep off your face when you sleep, for the first week.
Call the clinic the same hour if the chin turns pale or dusky, or the pain climbs instead of settling; a lump or an asymmetry still there at review is dealt with then.

FAQ

Chin filler, answered

How much filler does a chin usually need?
Commonly 1 to 2 cc. The figure comes off the 3D scan rather than a menu: how far the point has to travel forward, how much vertical height is missing, and what you are starting from. It is placed in layers within one session, and a second syringe is opened only if the profile still needs it.
How much does chin filler cost in Seoul?
At Dear Clinic, chin filler starts at ₩130,000 (≈ $95) per 1 cc with The Chaeum HA, with the imported gels priced above that. Most chins take 1 to 2 cc, so most plans are quoted as one or two syringes. Korean patients and international visitors read the same published list, and your total is fixed at the consultation.
How long does chin filler last?
The chin moves far less than the lips do, so hyaluronic acid placed here generally outlasts the same gel in a mobile area; published ranges for chin HA sit around 12 to 18 months. Dear Clinic does not promise a figure for your own face, because breakdown speed varies with the gel, the volume placed and your metabolism. The projection softens gradually, and a top-up is decided at review.
Does chin filler hurt?
Topical numbing goes on first and most modern gels carry their own anaesthetic, so what people describe is pressure more than pain. The deep pass against the bone is the firmest sensation of the session. It is over in a few minutes per side.
Is there downtime after chin filler?
Very little. Swelling for two or three days and sometimes a small bruise at the entry point is the usual picture, and most people go back to their plans the same day. Saunas, alcohol, hard exercise and pressing on the chin wait until it has settled.
Will it look like an obvious bump on my chin?
Firmer gel goes deep against the bone, where it acts as structure, and only a small superficial pass shapes the surface above it. A ball on the chin is what happens when the whole volume goes in shallow and in one spot. If the projection does read too full at review, hyaluronidase brings it back down.
Is chin filler reversible?
Yes. Because the material is hyaluronic acid, it can be dissolved with a hyaluronidase injection if you ever want it reduced or removed. That reversibility is one reason HA chin filler is a lower-commitment first step than surgical chin augmentation.
Can chin filler fix a dimpled, orange-peel chin?
Only partly. The pitted surface comes from the mentalis muscle contracting underneath, so relaxing that muscle is the treatment that actually addresses it, while filler can smooth the contour it leaves behind. The two are often planned together at the consultation.
Can chin filler replace a chin implant or jaw surgery?
For a modest shortfall it does much of the same visible work without an operation, and it can be dissolved again, which an implant cannot. Where the chin is markedly short or the bite itself is the underlying problem, surgery is the correct route and we say so at the consultation instead of filling around it.
What are the specific risks at the chin?
Swelling and a small bruise are the common ones, and both settle within days. A firm lump where too much gel sat in one place is uncommon and is usually resolved with hyaluronidase. The serious risk is gel entering one of the vessels running near the chin, which is why the deep pass stays central, goes in slowly and is aspirated first; pain out of proportion, or pale and dusky skin after treatment, is handled as an emergency.
Can I have chin filler on the same day as the consultation?
Usually. The EVE Muse scan and the director consultation take about thirty minutes between them, and if the profile and the volume are agreed, the injection follows the same afternoon. The syringe is opened only after you have approved the plan. The clinic runs 365 days a year, so a Saturday, a Sunday or a public holiday is a normal working day here.
Is the price different for visitors from abroad, and how do I book?
One published list covers everyone: from ₩130,000 per 1 cc whether you live in Seoul or fly in for a week. You pay in KRW; the USD figure beside it is a conversion for orientation. Send the form below with your travel dates and a profile photo; we reply in English within one business day and hold the slot without a deposit.
