About

What is Onda Coolwaves?

Onda is a body-and-contour firming treatment from DEKA that uses Coolwaves™ microwaves — a distinct form of energy that is neither radiofrequency nor laser. The microwaves are absorbed selectively by water-rich subcutaneous tissue, generating controlled heat that targets stubborn fat and lax skin at once, so the contour looks tighter and more defined without surgery.

Because microwave energy behaves differently from radiofrequency, the heat gathers in the subcutaneous layer while a cooled applicator holds the surface down. At Dear Clinic the unit of account is delivered energy: a session is written in kilojoules, 60 kJ at a time, and the amount is sized to your area and tissue thickness instead of a fixed template. Firming builds gradually as the tissue remodels over the weeks that follow.

Treatment Areas

Where Coolwaves reach

Energy placement is planned area by area from your 3D diagnosis, and it follows where the fullness and the slack actually sit on you.

01

Heavy lower face

Soft, heavy jawline and blurred contour where a little subcutaneous fullness lingers.

02

The under-chin pocket

Early double-chin fullness, and the zone most often named at consultation when Onda comes up.

03

Abdomen and flank pockets

Localized body areas where stubborn fat and loose skin appear together.

04

Arms & thighs

Softened, less-firm skin on the upper arms and inner thighs.

Why microwaves

What Coolwaves does differently

Coolwaves sit in a different band from the radiofrequency the rest of the lifting menu runs on, and that changes where the heat ends up.

POINT 01

Why water decides where the heat goes

Coolwaves™ microwaves run at 2.45 GHz and are absorbed by water-rich subcutaneous tissue. The heat therefore gathers a layer below where radiofrequency does most of its work.

POINT 02

Fat and firmness together

Heating that layer works on localized fullness and on the looseness of the skin above it during the same pass, which is what makes the outline read cleaner afterwards. One applicator, one target depth, two problems.

POINT 03

Surface kept comfortable

A cooled applicator holds the skin surface down while the energy works underneath. Most areas stay tolerable, and most people walk out with nothing to hide.

How the kilojoules are apportioned at Dear

01 — WHERE ONDA STOPS

Microwaves need fullness to grip

Onda answers one question well: what to do about a soft pocket of fat with slack skin sitting over it. A lean, descending face gives it nothing. That case is a focused-ultrasound, radiofrequency or thread plan, and all three of those sit in the same building on the same published list, which is why the answer can change on the day without changing your bill.

02 — THE LAYER, MEASURED

Where the fat sits, read in 3D

Coolwaves are absorbed by water, so the whole plan hinges on how deep and how full that layer actually is on you. The EVE Muse capture and the five-light-source reading show your director where the pocket sits, where the skin over it has gone slack, and where there is nothing worth heating at all, and the 60 kJ is apportioned against that picture. A jawline and an abdomen are never handed the same map, which is also why the total is fixed in the room and never quoted over a message.

03 — DIRECTOR-PERFORMED

A cooled handpiece still needs a steady hand

The applicator protects the surface, but where it is held, how long it dwells and how the passes overlap decide whether the heat lands in the layer we mean it to. Every pass here is director-performed, at a pace set by the thickness underneath — quicker over thin skin, lingering where the pocket runs deep.

How much does Onda Coolwaves
cost in Seoul?

Onda is billed by the energy delivered, and the unit is a 60 kJ session. Sixty kilojoules covers a very different amount of ground on a jawline than it does across an abdomen, so the unit tells you the rate and the scan tells you the count. At Dear Clinic in Cheongdam that unit is ₩500,000 (≈ $355), off the one published list Korean patients are quoted from as well. How many kilojoules an area needs follows from how thick the subcutaneous layer reads on your scan, which is why the total is settled face to face.

Published rate as of September 2026. The kilojoule plan and the total are settled with you first, and nothing is added once the applicator is on. Onda does not replace radiofrequency or focused ultrasound. It is chosen when the scan finds a water-rich pocket of fat with loose skin above it, and one of the other machines is chosen when it does not.

Caution

The days after a 60 kJ session

Onda heats from underneath, so the surface usually looks no more than pink once the applicator comes off, and that colour fades soon after.
The treated pocket can feel firm, warm or faintly tender for several days while the tissue settles. Expected, and it eases on its own.
Give saunas, hot baths and alcohol a few days off; they add heat to a layer that is already busy with it.
Handle the area gently — no vigorous kneading, no abrasive body scrubs, no high-stimulation actives on facial zones until the firmness has passed.
Less common, and named here on purpose: a tender nodule under the skin, a patch of bruising, or a small burn where the heat concentrated in one spot. Any of those is worth a call in the same week.
Anything that stays sore or firm well beyond that should be looked at; the aftercare follow-up call comes with every session, so use it.

FAQ

Onda Coolwaves, answered

Is Onda Coolwaves worth it?
It is worth it for one shape of problem: a soft, fatty contour with some slack over it — a heavy jawline, an early double chin, a localized pocket on the body. Coolwaves are one of the few non-surgical options that work on the fat and the firmness in a single pass. For laxity that has dropped deeper, focused ultrasound is the better instrument, and the scan is what separates the two cases.
Is Onda radiofrequency?
No, and it is the most common misreading of this treatment. Onda uses Coolwaves™ microwaves at 2.45 GHz, an energy band that is neither radiofrequency nor light. Because water absorbs them, the heat gathers in the fatty layer, below where radiofrequency does most of its work.
How much does Onda cost in Seoul?
At Dear Clinic in Cheongdam, Onda is ₩500,000 (≈ $355) for a 60 kJ session — the same published rate for locals and international visitors. The energy amount is planned from your 3D diagnosis by area, and the full plan is approved by you before treatment.
Does Onda hurt?
Most people describe a deep warmth that rises and falls as the applicator moves, with the cooled plate keeping the skin surface comfortable. Sensation varies with the area and how thick the tissue is; your director changes the pace when it climbs.
Is there downtime after Onda?
Practically none for most patients. Mild warmth, pinkness or a firm feeling settles within days, and there is no needle mark and no bruise to cover, so the day carries on. Saunas, alcohol and aggressive skincare wait briefly.
When do results appear, and how long do they last?
Some change can be felt early, but firming builds gradually over the weeks that follow as the tissue remodels. How long it holds varies with the individual, the area, age and habits, so repeat sessions are planned at review instead of being promised as a fixed interval.
Onda vs HIFU or RF — which should I choose?
They reach different targets. Onda’s microwaves concentrate in subcutaneous fat and lax tissue; focused ultrasound such as Ultherapy Prime or Shurink is aimed at the deeper SMAS layer for lift; radiofrequency works broadly through the dermis. Dear carries all three, so the recommendation follows the diagnosis and not the equipment list.
Can Onda be combined with HIFU or radiofrequency?
Yes. For a heavy lower face the two are often planned together, because the problems sit in different layers: Onda takes the fatty pocket and the slack above it, while focused ultrasound or radiofrequency takes the descent underneath. The order and the spacing are set at diagnosis, and each treatment is billed at its own published unit — kilojoules here, shots there.
Will Onda change my weight or take centimetres off?
No. Onda is contour and firmness work on one localized zone, and we publish no centimetre or kilogram figures for it, because any number offered before your tissue has been read is a guess. If your goal is weight loss, this is the wrong page and the consultation will say so.
Can Onda be done on the same visit as the consultation?
Usually, yes. The 3D reading and the doctor’s assessment are the first part of the visit, and Onda asks for no injection and no anaesthetic wait, so a 60 kJ session can follow immediately once the director confirms the area suits it. Body zones take longer at the applicator than a jawline does, so name the area at booking and the appointment is sized for it. We open every day of the year.
Can Onda be used on the body as well as the face?
Yes — beyond the lower face and under-chin, Onda is often planned for the abdomen, flanks, arms and thighs, where localized fat and loose skin appear together. The energy plan is written per area at diagnosis, and body areas generally draw more kilojoules than facial ones.
I am flying in — is the price different, and how do I arrange it?
The rate is the same line a Korean patient reads: ₩500,000 (≈ $355) per 60 kJ, settled in KRW, with the dollar figure beside it as a reading conversion. Send the form below with your dates and the area you want treated, since body plans need a longer slot. We answer in English within one business day and hold the time without a deposit. Onda leaves no needle mark and asks for no set-aside recovery days, so a flight the next morning is not a problem for most people.
