About

What is Ultherapy Prime?

Ultherapy Prime is the newest generation of Ultherapy, a non-surgical lifting treatment that delivers focused ultrasound energy to the SMAS layer — the same layer addressed in surgical facelifts — to stimulate collagen regeneration. Compared with classic Ultherapy, Prime images deeper (up to 8 mm), treats about 20% faster, and shows your skin layers live on screen while the doctor works.

High-intensity focused ultrasound (HIFU) passes through the surface without cutting it and concentrates thermal energy at precise depths — 1.5, 3.0 and 4.5 mm. The result builds over weeks as new collagen forms: firmer contours, a cleaner jawline and improved elasticity, with little downtime.

Treatment Areas

Where Ultherapy Prime is aimed

The shot map is drawn zone by zone off your 3D scan, and the count per zone is fixed before the first line goes in.

01

Jawline & chin

Sagging jawline, early double chin, blurred face outline — the most requested zone.

02

Mid-face and nasolabial heaviness

Loosening mid-face volume and nasolabial heaviness lifted at the SMAS layer.

03

Brow & eye area

Subtle brow-line lift for a more open, rested eye look.

04

Neck and early banding

Neck laxity and early banding — treated with depth-matched shot planning.

Ulthera vs Ultherapy Prime

What Prime changes

Three things Prime does that classic Ultherapy could not, and what each one changes in the treatment room.

UPGRADE 01

Sharper real-time imaging

A 2× larger ultrasound field and a 35% larger display with noise reduction — the doctor reads your skin layers more intuitively and places every line more precisely.

UPGRADE 02

Sees down to 8 mm

Classic Ultherapy visualized to 4.5 mm. Prime confirms structures down to 8 mm — precise treatment even for thicker skin, with energy kept exactly where it belongs.

UPGRADE 03

About 20% faster

Upgraded delivery shortens treatment time by roughly 20% while transmitting energy more finely — less discomfort time, refined lifting effect.

Dear, Knowhow

Why have Ultherapy Prime done at Dear

01 — THE FULL ARSENAL

HIFU is not automatically the answer

Six other lifting platforms stand in the same room: Thermage FLX, Density, XERF, Onda, New Titanium and Shurink Universe. Where the scan reads surface crepiness sitting above an intact SMAS, radiofrequency or a combined protocol is what goes on the chart, and writing that instead of Prime costs this clinic nothing.

02 — DIAGNOSIS FIRST

Shot maps drawn from your own scan

A HIFU result is a shot map before it is anything else. Your EVE Muse 3D capture and five-light-source reading set how many hundreds the plan runs to and which of the 1.5, 3.0 and 4.5 mm depths each zone is treated at; the DeepSEE image then confirms, line by line during the session, that the layer under the transducer is the one the map intended.

03 — DIRECTOR-PERFORMED

Merz-certified hands on the transducer

Dr. Jemin Kim and Dr. Seonhaeng Lee both hold Merz certification as Ultherapy providers, and the unit in our treatment room carries its genuine-device authorization plaque. Both documents are photographed below, so you can read them yourself. Every session is performed by our directors, because with focused ultrasound it is the placement of each line that shows up in the mirror three months later.

Pricing

How much does Ultherapy Prime
cost in Seoul?

Ultherapy Prime is priced by the shot rather than by the session, and that is deliberate: every shot is one discrete line of focused ultrasound placed at a chosen depth, so a jawline-only map and a full-face-and-neck map are genuinely different amounts of work. At Dear Clinic in Cheongdam the unit is ₩400,000 per 100 shots (≈ $285), quoted from the one published list that Korean patients and visitors both read. How many hundreds your face calls for is decided from the EVE 3D scan and confirmed against the DeepSEE image — commonly several hundred for a full face — and that count is agreed with you before the first line is placed.

Published rate as of August 2026. Once the shot count is agreed nothing is added to it, and nobody will lean on you in the chair to buy a bigger number. Do note that per-unit prices across lifting technologies are not comparable on their own — 100 shots of imaging-guided ultrasound and one tip of radiofrequency buy different things. Ask at consultation and both maps get priced for your own face.

Caution

After Ultherapy Prime: the first days, then the first months

Prime deposits its energy below the surface, so the skin itself normally shows little beyond a mild flush that settles quickly.
A pulling or tender feeling along the treated lines can follow for a short while as the deeper layer responds. Small bruises or raised welts along those same lines are possible and settle on their own.
Leave saunas, hot baths and alcohol alone for a few days after a shot plan.
Hold off on strong actives and abrasive skincare while the skin settles, then pick your usual routine back up.
The change keeps building for two to three months after the session, so judge it late. Anything that feels wrong before then goes on the follow-up call, which is included in the plan.

FAQ

Ultherapy Prime, answered

Is Ultherapy Prime worth it?
Where the scan shows descent at the SMAS layer, Prime is the most direct non-surgical answer to it, and focused ultrasound is one of the few approaches that works at that depth without cutting. Where the scan shows surface crepiness over an intact SMAS, it is the wrong purchase and radiofrequency is the right one. The scan is what separates those two pictures, and it happens before any quote is written.
How is Ultherapy Prime different from classic Ultherapy?
Three upgrades: a 2× larger imaging field on a 35% larger, noise-reduced display; layer visualization down to 8 mm instead of 4.5 mm; and roughly 20% faster treatment with finer energy delivery. Same proven mechanism, executed with more visibility and precision.
Does it hurt?
You'll feel heat and a deep prickling as energy reaches the deeper layers — most patients find it very tolerable with topical numbing, which is applied before treatment. Prime's faster delivery also shortens the uncomfortable part.
When do results appear, and how long do they last?
Some tightening reads immediately, but the substantive change builds over two to three months as collagen regenerates — which is the window the published MFU-V studies below also assess at. Because it accrues that slowly, book Prime early in a longer stay if you are travelling. How long it then holds varies with individual skin, age and lifestyle, and the maintenance interval is set with your director at the follow-up instead of being promised in advance.
Is there downtime?
Practically none for most patients — mild redness or tenderness settles within days, and you can return to normal plans the same day. Avoid saunas, alcohol and aggressive skincare briefly.
How many shots will I need?
It depends on your laxity pattern and treatment areas — plans are built in 100-shot increments (₩400,000 each) from your 3D diagnosis, commonly a few hundred shots for full-face work. You see and approve the exact plan before treatment.
Can Ultherapy Prime be done the same day I come for a consultation?
Usually, yes. The EVE 3D scan and the doctor's reading of it take about 30 minutes; topical numbing is then applied and given time to work before the shot plan is delivered, so allow roughly two hours end to end for a same-day Prime session. If the director confirms suitability there is no need for a second trip. We open every day of the year, Sundays and public holidays included.
Is it safe? Is the device genuine?
Ultherapy's focused-ultrasound lifting technology is FDA-cleared, and treatment at Dear is guided by live DeepSEE imaging so energy goes only where intended. Our device is a verified genuine Ultherapy Prime unit, and our providers hold Merz certification — both displayed in the clinic and on this page.
Ultherapy Prime vs Thermage — which should I choose?
They work on different layers: Prime's ultrasound targets the deeper SMAS layer (lift), while Thermage's radiofrequency works broadly in the dermis (tightening and texture). Many faces benefit from one, some from both in sequence. Since Dear carries both, your diagnosis decides which one is written on the chart.
Do men get Ultherapy Prime too?
Yes — jawline definition and early neck laxity are common requests. Male skin tends to be thicker, which is exactly where Prime's 8 mm visualization helps precision.
Is there a different Ultherapy Prime price for visitors?
No. ₩400,000 per 100 shots (≈ $285) is the unit a Korean patient is quoted from the same published list. Payment is made in KRW and the dollar figure on this page is orientation only. Because the total follows from how many hundreds your shot map calls for, we quote the whole plan after the scan — a jawline-only map and a full-face-and-neck map are different numbers, and guessing one for you by email would be worthless.
Does Ultherapy Prime treat the neck as well as the face?
Yes — neck laxity and early banding are one of the four mapped zones, and the neck is allotted its own shot count inside the plan instead of being absorbed into the face total. Neck skin is thinner than cheek skin, which is exactly the situation DeepSEE imaging exists for: the layer under the transducer is confirmed on screen before each line is placed. Lu's quantitative study in the reference list below analyses face and neck tightening with microfocused ultrasound in Asian skin specifically.

Scientific Evidence

Science behind Ultherapy Prime — peer-reviewed references

The mechanism inside Ultherapy Prime — micro-focused ultrasound with visualization, or MFU-V — has been examined in the peer-reviewed literature for well over a decade, and it is that body of work, not a manufacturer brochure, that sets the depths a director selects for you. The choice between 1.5, 3.0 and 4.5 mm and the decision to treat at the SMAS layer at all are argued from published clinical and histological findings.

Two of the six references below study focused-ultrasound tightening specifically in Asian skin — Suh's histological work and Lu's quantitative face-and-neck analysis. That matters here: skin thickness and healing behaviour differ enough that shot planning done in Seoul should be argued from Asian cohorts wherever they exist.
