Two Line Groups, Two Muscle Groups

What is the difference between 11 lines and forehead lines? Answered in Cheongdam, Gangnam, Seoul

Eleven lines are the vertical creases between the eyebrows, written by muscles that squeeze the brows inward and down. Forehead lines run across, written by the sheet that lifts the brow. Separate muscles, separate maps, separate listed areas from ₩30,000 each.

The Two Names

Where the phrase eleven lines comes from and what forehead lines describe

Eleven lines is a nickname for the pair of vertical creases that appear between the eyebrows when you concentrate, because two parallel strokes look like the written number eleven. Korean clinics use the phrase constantly and visiting patients pick it up here; medicine calls the same patch of face the glabella. Forehead lines are the horizontal bands higher up, made by a different muscle with a different job.

The two get confused because they live next door and turn up in the same unflattering photograph. One set is drawn by a squeeze, the other by a lift, and that single fact decides which marks go where, how many treated areas appear on your quote, and what each zone can go wrong with.

Which zone you start with follows from what your brow does when it is asked to move, and that is measured before anything is drawn on your skin. The wider map of expression-line work sits on the wrinkle botox page; this page exists to separate two zones that get mixed up daily.

The Anatomy Underneath

A crease always runs across the pull that makes it

Skin folds at right angles to the muscle shortening under it. Read that rule once and the two zones stop being interchangeable.

Botulinum toxin type A works on the signal arriving at whichever fibres it is placed among. Quiet the squeezing complex and less force folds the vertical creases; quiet the lifting sheet and the horizontal bands stop being pressed in as hard. The material is identical in both zones, and the anatomy underneath makes them two different jobs.

Tell Them Apart

Three movements in front of a mirror that separate the two zones

MOVEMENT 01

Concentrate hard, as if reading small print

The inner ends of both brows travel toward each other and dip. Whatever deepens vertically in the gap between them is the eleven-line zone. A crinkle appearing over the bridge of the nose at the same time rides along with this group and is assessed with it.

MOVEMENT 02

Lift both brows as high as they go

Bands stack across the forehead. That is the sheet at work, and how many appear says more about how much travel your brow has than about your age. Very few bands on a full raise usually means little lift left to give.

MOVEMENT 03

Let the whole face go slack for ten seconds

Whatever is still visible is a crease living in the skin instead of a fold made by movement. Either zone can end up there. Softening the muscle slows such a crease down without ironing it out, and you are told which of your lines fall into that category.

Your director runs the same three movements with a camera and compares the frames side by side. A resting face hides most of what matters here, which is why a photograph of one tells us so little in advance.

How They Are Counted

Why the glabella and the forehead appear as two lines on one quote

Each zone is a separate treated area on the published wrinkle line. Treating both is two areas, priced as two areas and approved by you as two areas before a pen touches your skin.

The accounting follows the anatomy. A small dense complex that pulls hard behaves differently under the needle from a wide thin sheet spread over a large surface, so the two carry different unit loads and different point patterns, and the marks for one say nothing about where the marks for the other belong.

If one zone bothers you far more than the other, start there and watch what the face does; if both bother you equally, they can be mapped in the same sitting. Every published tier sits on the price list, and how an area, a unit count and a product tier combine into a total is set out on the botox price page.

The Link Between Them

Treating one zone changes what the other one does next

Because the two groups pull against each other across the same eyebrow, quieting one side changes where the brow settles. Soften the downward complex alone and the brow is released a little upward; some patients enjoy that lift and a few notice their horizontal bands becoming livelier. Soften the lifting sheet alone and the downward group carries on at full strength, which can leave the brow lower than it was and the frown looking more determined.

So the consultation measures the pair even when you have come in asking about one. Your director reads how far the brow travels between rest and a full raise, how much room sits between brow and upper lid, and how hard the squeezing complex works. Those three readings decide which zone starts, and how lightly the sheet is dosed.

Where both zones are planned together the forehead usually needs a gentler hand, because part of what was pulling the brow down has already been quietened. That interaction is a planning tool.

Zone By Zone

The two zones carry two different lists of things that can go wrong

Bruising, brief swelling, tenderness at an entry point and an occasional headache in the first day belong to both zones. Past that the lists diverge, and which list you are accepting is part of choosing where to start.

The eleven-line zone. Its particular risk is a heavy or drooping upper eyelid, which happens when product reaches the muscle holding the lid open. It is temporary and unpleasant while it lasts. The zone is vessel-rich, so bruises show more readily here, and the inner brow ends can sit unevenly for a few weeks if one side responds faster.

The forehead zone. Its particular risk is a brow that feels heavy or sits lower than you expected, because the only muscle holding it up has been quietened. A peak at the outer end of each brow comes from an uneven map and is corrected at a review, which is also where asymmetry between the two halves of the sheet is evened out.

When we do not recommend either zone. A brow already sitting low, or an upper lid carrying a fold of skin that the forehead is quietly helping to hold clear, will not thank you for a forehead dose. Creases that look identical whether your face is working or slack are skin damage and are sent to skin treatments, with the skin booster and laser routes the usual destinations. Treatment is declined in pregnancy and while breastfeeding, where a neuromuscular condition appears in your history, and where there is infection or inflamed skin inside the field. Tell your director about blood-thinning medication or supplements and about any previous reaction to a toxin. Results vary between individuals and are judged on your own examination.

Listed Rates

What each of the two zones is listed at in Cheongdam

Both zones sit on the same published ladder, charged per treated area. One area runs from ₩30,000 (≈ $20) on the Korean tier to ₩150,000 (≈ $105) on the imported tier, with intermediate tiers published on the rate list. A plan covering the eleven-line zone and the forehead is two areas on that ladder.

Korean pharmaceutical advertising rules keep prescription toxin product names off public pages, so the columns above are tiers and not manufacturers; your director names the product and shows you the vial before it is drawn. The rate is identical for residents and visitors, and consultation or aftercare charges are confirmed at the appointment.

Order Of Play

How a plan across both zones is sequenced and reviewed

Both zones are read in the same appointment even when only one is treated
The first plan is written light in the lifting sheet and firmer in the squeezing complex, which is the safer order on most faces
Stay upright for the first hours and leave the gym, the sauna and face-down beds until the next day
At the end of the first week, frown hard once and raise your brows once in front of a mirror, since those are the movements that show what has taken
Report a heavy lid, a dropped brow or two sides behaving differently while it is developing, not after it has settled

The review appointment is where a two-zone plan is actually finished. Your director sets the week-one frames beside the ones taken before treatment, evens out any difference between the sides and decides whether the band of sheet closest to the brow should stay untouched next time. With the clinic open 365 days a year, that review can sit on a weekend if your week demands it.

Dear, Knowhow

How the two zones are separated before a single unit is drawn at Dear

01 — THE FULL ARSENAL

Sending a crease to the skin side costs us nothing

Boosters, lasers and injectables share these two floors, so a line with no movement behind it goes to the tool that reaches it.

02 — DIAGNOSIS FIRST

EVE Muse 3D + AI captures the frown and the raise separately

Three-dimensional imaging under five light sources records the face slack, concentrating and at a full brow lift. The AI analysis measures how far the brow travels between those states and how much room sits above the lid, and those figures separate a forehead plan from an eleven-line plan on your face.

03 — DIRECTOR-PERFORMED

Two maps drawn while the muscles are working

Marks for each zone are drawn on your own face with that zone engaged, and the injections are director-performed. Point patterns are redrawn at every visit from what the muscles show on the day, and the last totals are kept so the next visit starts from a record.

FAQ

Eleven lines against forehead lines, question by question

Are 11 lines and forehead lines treated with the same injection?
Same material, two separate maps. The eleven-line zone is a dense group pulling the brows inward and down; the forehead is one wide sheet pulling up. Each gets its own point pattern, dose and line on the rate ladder.
If I treat only my 11 lines, will my forehead lines get worse?
They can look livelier for a while. Quieting the group that pulls the brow down releases the brow slightly upward, and a brow with more travel folds the sheet above it more freely. It is temporary, and it is one reason both zones are read in the same appointment even when only one is treated.
How much is it if I want both zones treated?
Two treated areas on the published ladder. One area runs from ₩30,000 (≈ $20) on the Korean tier to ₩150,000 (≈ $105) on the imported tier, so a two-zone plan is that figure twice on the tier you choose. You see both lines on the quote and approve them before anything is drawn, and visitors pay what residents pay.
Which of the two zones responds better?
Neither has a general advantage. It depends on how much of the line is movement and how much is a crease set into the skin. Bands that appear only on a full raise usually change a great deal; eleven lines still visible on a slack face soften without disappearing.
My 11 lines are visible even when my face is relaxed. Does that change the plan?
It changes what you should expect from it. A crease present at complete rest has become a feature of the skin, so quieting the muscle stops it being pressed deeper and usually shallows it slowly. Closing it further is a skin job, and if the reading shows that is what you have, we do not recommend an injection on its own and the conversation moves to boosters or resurfacing.
Can the two zones be treated on different days?
Yes, and sometimes that is the better order. Treating the squeezing complex first and reading the brow again a fortnight later shows how much the forehead really needs, which helps on a face where the brow sits low. The second zone is quoted at its own listed rate on the day it is treated.
Which zone carries the risk of a drooping eyelid?
Mainly the eleven-line zone, because the muscle holding the upper lid open sits close by and product can reach it. The forehead has its own version: a brow that feels heavy after a dose stronger than it could carry. Both are temporary, both are examined if they appear, and both are why a first plan here is written with room to add.
Do men need a different plan across the two zones?
Usually a stronger one. A male brow sits lower and flatter and both muscle groups tend to be heavier, so totals run higher while the band nearest the brow is treated with even more restraint. The reading, the maps and the published rates are the same.
How soon does each zone change, and how long does it hold?
Nothing shifts on the day in either zone. Movement reduces over the days that follow and the look of the lines follows the movement. How long it holds depends on the dose, on how hard that muscle group works and on your own metabolism, so the pattern to expect is given at the consultation instead of printed on a page.
Does one zone hurt more than the other?
The area between the brows is usually reported as the sharper of the two, since the tissue is denser and the points fewer and deeper. The forehead is a thin sheet and the passes are shallow. Both sittings are short, and any comfort measures are confirmed with you at the consultation.
Who should not have either zone treated?
Anyone pregnant or breastfeeding, anyone with a neuromuscular condition in their history, and anyone with infection or inflamed skin inside the field. Blood-thinning medication, supplements and any previous reaction to a toxin must be mentioned, since they change what is offered. Where the examination finds skin damage instead of movement, we do not recommend an injection and you are shown the frames behind that call.
Can both zones be treated on the day I come in, and how do I book from abroad?
Treatment can follow the consultation in the same visit once both zones have been read and you have approved the quote, and Dear Clinic is open 365 days a year including Sundays and public holidays. Send the consultation form one photograph concentrating and one with your brows raised; the reply comes in English as soon as possible.

Three references sit behind the clinical use of botulinum toxin type A on expression lines: the original published report of treating the vertical frown lines between the brows, an international consensus education initiative covering its aesthetic application, and a laboratory account of how the licensed type A products differ from one another.

They describe mechanism and product science. They do not describe your brow, they set no dose for either zone and they attach no timeline to either; that comes from the measurements taken at your own examination.
