Lip Filler Longevity

How Long Do Lip Fillers Really Last? A Cheongdam answer, in cc

Dear Clinic publishes no fixed number of months for a lip design. Hyaluronic acid is resorbable, a mouth moves all day, and the range that applies to you is given by the director who planned your cc — after the scan, for the specific gel opened.

The Direct Answer

Lip filler longevity at Dear Clinic, stated plainly

A lip design here is hyaluronic acid, which your own tissue breaks down over time. Dear Clinic does not print a month figure on the lip line, because the gel family, the volume in cc, the plane it sits in and how fast your body clears it all move that number. The range for the product in your plan is given to you at the diagnosis.

A figure quoted before anyone has looked at your mouth is marketing arithmetic. The defensible way to set expectations is to show you which variables are in play, tell you where your own reading sits on each of them, and then book the review that checks whether the estimate held.

Two things are fixed and can be said without a scan. Hyaluronic acid is resorbable, so a lip result softens gradually instead of stopping on a date. And it is reversible: the same molecule responds to a hyaluronidase enzyme injection, which is why a mouth is one of the lower-commitment designs in aesthetic medicine even when nobody can name the month it will fade.

Five Variables

What governs how long a lip filler result holds

Every one of these is decided at your reading, and every one of them moves the timeline.

VariableWhy it matters on the mouthWhere it is decided
Gel rheologyCross-linked hyaluronic acid products are measurably different from one another in firmness, cohesivity and how they behave under load. A soft gel finishing an outline and a firmer gel carrying body are not the same material job.Family choice after the scan
Volume placedA plan written to a tenth of a cc places what the shortfall needs. Less material in a moving zone is easier on the shape; it also gives the tissue less to work through.Your cc, agreed before treatment
Plane and placementGel laid deep against structure sits under different mechanical load to gel feathered along the vermillion border, and the two do not soften at the same pace.Layering during the procedure
Mouth mechanicsSpeech, eating and expression run the mouth all day. Movement is the reason lip work is generally reviewed sooner than a static structural area such as the chin.Your own anatomy and habits
Your metabolismTurnover rate differs between people, and the same syringe in two mouths will not follow the same curve. Age, activity level and tissue quality all feed into it.Read at the 3D diagnosis

No published study in the reference list at the foot of this page gives a duration promise for an individual mouth, and this clinic does not issue one either. What the literature does establish is that filler products differ physically from one another — which is exactly why the family chosen for your lips is a clinical decision.

The Gels On The Lip Card

Four hyaluronic acid families, four different behaviours in a mouth

01 — THE HOUSE GEL

The Chaeum, the Korean family stocked here

A high-elasticity hyaluronic acid that holds moisture balance and tissue elasticity, described in the clinic's own material as giving little foreign-body sensation. It is the house family for lip work at the specialty-area rate.

02 — THE COHESIVE IMPORTS

Belotero and its multi-density particle structure

Made with a patented CPM multi-density process that leaves very few nodules and integrates across tissue densities, supplied in four lines so the choice can follow skin type and placement. On a lip border, that integration is the property being bought.

03 — THE STRUCTURED IMPORTS

Restylane and Juvederm, where body is wanted

Restylane was the first hyaluronic acid filler brought to market, developed in Sweden in 1996 and certified by the FDA and CE. Juvederm uses the patented Vycross cross-linking, comes in adjustable particle sizes by area, and carries lidocaine in the syringe.

Why the family choice belongs to the reading, not to a price list

Your lips are measured on the EVE Muse 3D unit under five light sources before any gel is selected. The reading gives the director the upper–lower ratio, the outline definition and the tissue thickness to work from, and the family is matched to what those numbers ask for. Every injection is performed by your director, so the person choosing the gel is the person placing it.

Where the reading finds that the mouth needs texture and hydration and not structural volume, we do not recommend lip filler that day. A booster protocol answers that finding better, and a session you did not need is a session that fades anyway.

The Dear Filler Technique

How the four Dear steps change what fades and what stays

Longevity is partly a material question and partly a placement question. These four steps are the placement half.

01
Dear Shape

Read the mouth before deciding what has to hold

Lip length, the peaks of the cupid's bow, the upper–lower ratio and the angle of the corners are measured first. Knowing which of those is the actual complaint decides what the gel has to defend over the coming months.

02
Dear LayerFill

Two layers, so no single pocket carries the design

A base layer settles the contour and a second fine layer corrects the border and any asymmetry. Distributing the material across layers is what keeps a mouth from developing a lump at one point, and it spreads the mechanical load that movement puts on the gel.

03
Dear BalanceControl

Both halves compared before the last tenth goes in

Distributed injection matched to the tissue layer stops one side becoming convex while the other stays flat. A balanced start is also a cleaner finish: when the two halves soften at slightly different rates, a symmetrical build has less distance to drift.

04
Dear LineFit

Checked while the mouth is talking, not only at rest

Lip length, angle and centre line are reviewed against the rest of the face, and the design is judged in motion as well as in repose. A shape that only works closed is a shape you will want corrected long before the gel is gone.

Top-ups And Reversal

When a lip top-up is planned — and when gel is taken back out

Because hyaluronic acid softens gradually, a top-up is an appointment you choose, and it is quoted on the volume actually placed. The decision is made on your mouth at a review, with a calendar reminder playing no part in it.
A top-up is usually smaller than the first plan. Part of the original design is still present when the shape starts to relax, so the second visit is typically a fraction of a cc placed where the outline or the ratio has slipped. It is priced per cc like any other placement.
The review is where the judgement happens. Swelling has to clear before anybody can read a lip properly, so the first assessment of a new design belongs at the review appointment arranged with you at the consultation, once the mouth has settled.
Reversal is available at any point in the cycle. All lip gels on this card are hyaluronic acid, so a hyaluronidase enzyme injection can reduce a design or clear it. The clinic's own guidance is explicit that where a long period has passed and the gel has fibrosed into firmer tissue, one session may not remove it completely, and the mouth is assessed in person first.
More product is not a longevity strategy. Volume stacked on a moving zone to buy time is how mouths start to read as done. Where that is what is being asked for, we do not recommend it, and the conversation goes back to proportion.
Published Rates

What a lip design and a later top-up are charged at

Lips sit in the specialty-area group on both columns of the filler card. With the house Korean gel the rate is ₩300,000 (≈ $215) per cc; with any imported family it is ₩500,000 (≈ $355) per cc. Billing follows the cubic centimetre, so a small top-up is charged proportionally to what goes in.

Published rates are identical for residents and for visiting patients, and the total for your design is agreed at the diagnosis before a syringe is opened. For the full filler card across every area and family, the dermal filler hub lists each published line, and the transparent price list carries the rest of the clinic.

FAQ

Lip filler duration, question by question

How long do lip fillers really last?
Long enough to be worth planning, and never long enough to be permanent — which is the useful half of the answer. Dear Clinic does not publish a month figure, because the gel family, the cc placed, the layer and your own turnover rate all move it. Hyaluronic acid is resorbable, so the shape softens gradually instead of ending on a date, and the range that applies to the product in your plan is given to you at the diagnosis by the director who will place it.
Does the gel family change how long a lip design holds?
It is one of the five variables. Cross-linked hyaluronic acid products are physically different from one another in firmness, cohesivity and behaviour under load, and those properties are what the director matches to your design. A cohesive gel integrating along a border and a structured gel carrying body are doing different mechanical work, and they do not follow the same curve in the same mouth. The family is chosen from your reading, then the expected range for that product is explained.
Why do lips seem to fade faster than cheeks or chin?
Movement. Speech, eating and expression put the mouth under load continuously, while a chin or a temple carries a mostly static design. That is why lip work is generally reviewed on a shorter cycle than structural placements, and why a plan written in tenths of a cc for the mouth is worth more than extra volume: the material has to survive a zone that never sits still.
Will more cc make my lip filler last longer?
Adding volume to buy time is the most common way a mouth starts to look treated. Beyond what the proportion of your face supports, extra product changes the shape you asked for and increases the chance of a visible lump or an uneven border. Where that is the request, we do not recommend it; the conversation goes back to the upper–lower ratio and to what the reading actually found.
When should I book a top-up?
At the point where you notice the outline blurring or the ratio slipping, rather than on a fixed schedule. Part of the first design is normally still present at that stage, so a top-up is frequently a fraction of a cc placed exactly where the shape has relaxed. It is billed per cubic centimetre like any other placement, so a small correction is a small quote.
Can I make a lip result last longer at home?
Nothing you do at home extends a resorbable gel in a measurable way, and any product sold on that claim deserves scepticism. What genuinely helps is avoiding heat and heavy training while the area settles in the first days, not pressing or massaging the border yourself, and returning for the review so the design is read once swelling has cleared. Sun protection and stable skin care are good for the tissue around a lip in any case.
Does the second treatment behave differently to the first?
Frequently, yes, because the starting point is different. A mouth that still holds part of an earlier design needs less new material to reach the same shape, and the director is building on a border that has already been defined. What matters is that the previous product is identified at the consultation — what was used, roughly when, and whether it was ever dissolved — since that changes both the plan and the volume.
What if I want it gone before it fades on its own?
Hyaluronic acid responds to a hyaluronidase enzyme injection, so a lip design can be partly reduced or fully cleared without waiting for resorption. The clinic's guidance is direct about the limit: where a long time has passed and the material has fibrosed into firmer tissue, a single session may not clear it completely. The mouth is examined in person before either route is agreed.
Does anything stay behind in the lip long term?
Hyaluronic acid is broken down by the body, and this clinic uses hyaluronic acid for lips. No claim of a permanent change is made here, in either direction: the design goes, and so does the option to keep it exactly as it was. That reversibility is also what makes the mouth a lower-commitment area to treat than an implant or a surgical change.
What are the risks I should weigh against the timeline?
Bruising at an entry point and swelling through the settling window are ordinary and pass. Lumps or an uneven border can occur and are usually correctable, including by dissolving. The serious risks are vascular: gel entering a vessel can cause skin necrosis and, very rarely, visual loss, which is why placement is slow, low-pressure and in planes mapped by the anatomical literature listed below, and why every injection is performed by your director.
What does a lip design cost, and is the rate the same for visitors?
Lips are in the specialty-area group: ₩300,000 (≈ $215) per cc with the house Korean gel and ₩500,000 (≈ $355) per cc with an imported family. The published card is the same for residents and for international patients, consultation is in English, and the total for your cc is fixed and approved before treatment begins.

Peer-reviewed references behind the variables on this page

None of the papers below quotes a duration for an individual patient, and neither does this page. What they do document is why filler products are physically distinguishable from one another, how facial assessment guides where a gel is placed, which planes carry vascular risk, and how hyaluronic acid is removed when a design has to come back down.
