Proportion Before Volume

Can You Get Natural Looking Lip Fillers? Yes — if the design starts with proportion

A mouth reads as treated when volume arrives without a ratio behind it. Dear Clinic plans lips to 0.1 cc off a 3D reading, builds them in two layers, and stops at the point your own proportions support.

The Direct Answer

What makes a lip filler result read as your own mouth

Yes. A lip design looks natural when the ratio between upper and lower lip, the definition of the outline and the angle of the corners are treated as the target, and volume is only the means. The quantity is written in tenths of a cc from your 3D reading and placed in two layers, so no single point carries enough gel to announce itself.

What gives a treated mouth away is almost never the brand on the carton. It is a lip that has been filled without being designed: a flat projection where the cupid's bow should peak, an upper lip carrying more than the lower can balance, product sitting in one pocket instead of spread through the tissue, or an outline that has lost its edge because everything under it was pushed outward at once.

The clinic's own lip material puts it plainly: balance matters more than fullness, down to a difference of 0.1 cc. That is the sentence this page exists to explain.

Lip Anatomy

The four measurements that decide whether a mouth looks designed or done

Lips are not one volume. Muscle movement, tissue grain, mucosal thickness and the angle into the philtrum are connected, and a plan has to respect all four.

What is measuredWhat it controlsWhat goes wrong when it is ignored
Upper to lower ratioHow the mouth sits in the lower third of the face at rest and while speakingAn upper lip built past what the lower can answer, which the eye reads instantly as treatment
Outline definitionThe crispness of the vermillion border and the peaks of the cupid's bowA blurred edge padded from underneath, so the mouth gains size and loses shape
Corner angleWhether the commissures turn up, sit level or draw down at restVolume added centrally while the corners stay down, which exaggerates the droop
Mucosal thickness and movementHow much material the tissue can carry before it bulges, and how the shape behaves in speechGel placed in a plane the tissue cannot hide, producing a visible step or a lump

All four are read on the EVE Muse 3D unit under five light sources before a family is chosen, and the published facial-assessment literature at the foot of this page exists for the same reason: injection guidance begins with measuring a face before any syringe is opened.

Tenths Of A Cubic Centimetre

Why 0.1 cc is the unit a natural lip is built in

On a mouth, a tenth of a cubic centimetre is visible. Writing the plan at that resolution is what allows the left side to receive a different quantity from the right, and the lower lip to receive a different quantity from the upper.

Faces are asymmetrical before anyone injects them. A plan that divides evenly is a plan that has stopped looking at your face, so each zone of the mouth gets its own figure and the totals rarely match. That is also why the quote is written per cubic centimetre: you are charged for what your design actually needed.

The second half of the precision question is where the gel goes. A two-layer molding structure — a base layer establishing the contour and a fine second layer correcting the border and any asymmetry — is the clinic's signature lip technique, and distributed injection across tissue layers is specifically what stops product from collecting at one point and bulging.

The Dear Filler Technique

Four steps from a lip measurement to a mouth that still looks like yours

01
Dear Shape

Direct the shape from inside the lip

Filler position is adjusted within the lip so the peaks of the bow, the corners and the flow of thickness are organised before volume is considered. The design brief is written here: what your mouth is short of, in which specific zone, and by how much.

02
Dear LayerFill

Build the base layer, then correct on a second pass

The first layer settles the contour and the second, finer layer addresses the outline and any asymmetry. Two layers instead of a single deposit keep the surface smooth, and it is the structural reason a design can gain definition without gaining bulk.

03
Dear BalanceControl

Distribute so one area never becomes the shape

Injection is matched to the tissue layer and spread across the zone so a single spot cannot become convex while its neighbour stays flat. Balance is checked between the halves of the mouth after every pass, and the last tenths go wherever the comparison says they are missing.

04
Dear LineFit

Check length, angle and centre line against the whole face

Lip length, the angle of the corners and the centre line are verified against the rest of the face, and the upper-to-lower balance is confirmed in speech as well as at rest. A mouth that only works closed has not finished being designed.

Choosing The Gel

Which hyaluronic acid family suits a soft lip design

01 — INTEGRATION

Belotero, built on CPM multi-density particles

A patented multi-density process leaves very few nodules and lets the gel sit across tissue densities, with four lines to match skin type and placement. On a border that has to stay soft under the eye's inspection, integration is the property being chosen.

02 — STRUCTURE

Juvederm and Restylane, where a lip needs body

Juvederm uses patented Vycross cross-linking with particle size adjusted to the area, and arrives with lidocaine in the syringe. Restylane was the first hyaluronic acid filler on the market, developed in Sweden in 1996 and certified by the FDA and CE.

03 — THE HOUSE GEL

The Chaeum, high-elasticity and Korean-made

The house family holds moisture balance and tissue elasticity and is described in the clinic's own material as giving little foreign-body sensation. It is the Korean option for lip work, quoted at the house specialty-area rate.

Published rheology research exists precisely because these products are not interchangeable: firmness, cohesivity and behaviour under load differ measurably between hyaluronic acid fillers. Matching those properties to your design is a clinical decision made from your reading, and every injection is performed by your director.

The Safety Net

Reversibility is part of why a natural lip plan can stay conservative

Every gel used for lips here is hyaluronic acid, which a hyaluronidase enzyme injection can break down. A design can therefore be reduced or cleared, which is what makes starting with the smaller volume a sensible strategy instead of a timid one.
Underfilling is correctable at the review. Adding a fraction of a cc to a settled mouth is straightforward. Removing an overbuilt lip is a second procedure with its own considerations, so the conservative first plan is the one that protects the result.
Dissolving has limits worth knowing. The clinic's guidance states that where a long period has passed and the filler has fibrosed into firmer tissue, a single session may not clear it completely, and an in-person assessment comes first.
Some requests are declined. Where the volume being asked for is more than your proportions will carry, we do not recommend it, and you will be told which part of the request the reading does support. If the finding is lip surface texture and not shape, the plan moves to a booster protocol.
The known risks are named here in full. Swelling and bruising at entry points are ordinary; lumps and temporary asymmetry can occur and are usually correctable. The serious risks are vascular, since gel entering a vessel can cause skin necrosis and, very rarely, visual loss, which is why injection is slow, low-pressure and in mapped planes.

Published Rates

What a proportion-led lip design is quoted at

Lips belong to the specialty-area group: ₩300,000 (≈ $215) per cc with the house Korean gel, ₩500,000 (≈ $355) per cc with any imported family. Because billing follows the cubic centimetre, a conservative design costs proportionally less than a maximal one.

Published rates are identical for residents and for visiting patients, and the figure for your design is agreed before a syringe is opened. The dermal filler hub lists every area and family, the lip filler page carries the full treatment detail, and the transparent price list covers the rest of the clinic.

FAQ

Natural lip design, question by question

Can you get natural looking lip fillers?
Yes, when the plan is built around proportion. The ratio between upper and lower lip, the definition of the border and the angle of the corners are the targets; volume is what delivers them. Quantities are written in tenths of a cc from your 3D reading and placed in two layers, so the mouth gains shape without any single point carrying enough gel to be obvious. A result that reads as treatment is almost always a result that skipped the measuring.
How do I avoid the overfilled look entirely?
Start below what you think you want and let the review decide the rest. Volume beyond what your proportions carry is what produces the look you are trying to avoid, and adding a fraction of a cc later is far simpler than reducing a mouth that was overbuilt. Keeping the first plan conservative also keeps your options open, since hyaluronic acid can be dissolved if the design needs revising.
How much filler goes into a natural lip design?
No standard quantity exists, and any figure quoted before your mouth has been measured is guesswork. The plan is written zone by zone off the 3D reading, in tenths of a cc, and the two sides frequently receive different amounts because faces are asymmetrical to begin with. You approve the total before treatment and the quote follows the cubic centimetres actually placed.
Which gel gives the softest, most natural feel?
The property that matters is how the gel integrates and behaves under load, and hyaluronic acid products differ measurably on both. A cohesive, multi-density gel such as Belotero is chosen where integration along a fine border is the priority; a more structured family is chosen where a lip genuinely needs body. Your director selects from the reading and explains why before anything is opened.
Can lip filler make thin lips look fuller without changing my face?
Within limits, yes, and the limits are your own proportions. A thin mouth can gain definition and a better upper-to-lower balance while still belonging to your face, because the design is measured against the lower third rather than against a picture. Where the volume requested would exceed what that balance supports, we do not recommend it and you will hear exactly which part is achievable.
Will my lips look lumpy or uneven?
Distributed injection across two layers exists to prevent product collecting at one point, which is the mechanism behind most lumps. Small firm areas can still occur while a mouth settles, and temporary unevenness during the swelling window is common because the halves rarely swell at the same rate. Anything still palpable or asymmetrical at the review is examined directly, and a correction is small when it is needed.
Can you fix downturned corners or asymmetry without adding bulk?
Often, because these are placement problems before they are volume problems. Supporting a commissure and defining an outline take small, precisely located quantities, and the balance is checked between the two halves after every pass. What filler can and cannot reach in a particular mouth is assessed at the diagnosis, and structural issues beyond its scope are named as such.
Does a natural result still show up in photographs?
It shows in the outline and in how light sits on the border, which is where a defined lip photographs well. The check at the end of treatment includes the centre line, the corner angle and the way the lips meet during speech, because a mouth that only works in a still photograph is not a finished design. Judge your own result at the review, once swelling has gone.
What if I change my mind after seeing the settled result?
Hyaluronic acid responds to a hyaluronidase enzyme injection, so the design can be reduced or cleared. The clinic's guidance notes that filler in place for a long time can fibrose and may need more than one session to clear completely, and the mouth is assessed in person before that is agreed. Reversibility is one of the reasons this material is used on lips in the first place.
Are men's lip designs planned differently?
The measurements are the same and the targets differ. A male mouth is typically designed for definition and corner support with a flatter projection, since the ratio that suits one face is not the ratio that suits another. The reading gives the director the numbers either way, and the conversation about what you want the mouth to say happens before any of it is placed.
What does a natural lip design cost, and is the price the same for visitors?
Lips sit in the specialty-area group: ₩300,000 (≈ $215) per cc with the house Korean gel and ₩500,000 (≈ $355) per cc with an imported family. Since billing follows the cubic centimetre, a conservative design is quoted proportionally. The published card is identical for residents and international patients, and consultation is in English.
