What this hair removal guide covers and what it leaves to your reading

Dear Clinic runs laser hair removal on a Candela GentleMax Pro carrying a 755 nm alexandrite and a 1064 nm Nd:YAG wavelength with dynamic cooling. Zones are published one by one as a single visit or as a block of five, separately for women and for men. What this treatment delivers is long-term hair reduction in the treated field.

What you will not find below is a number of visits or a spacing in weeks. Hair grows in cycles that differ between a jawline and a shin and between one person and the next, so your director sets both after reading the hair and the skin in front of them.

Everything else is printable, and it is printed: the zones, both line prices for each of them, the wavelength logic, how to arrive, what the room does, what the skin does afterwards, and which fields are refused.

The Zone Card

Four hair removal zones, published for women and for men

Each field is quoted on its own. A single visit is listed beside a block of five so you can see exactly what a repeat plan changes about the figure.

ZoneWhat the field coversWomen · 1 visitWomen · block of 5Men · 1 visitMen · block of 5
UnderarmThe hollow of one armpit on each side, the smallest and most commonly requested field on the card₩30,000 (≈ $20)₩75,000 (≈ $55)₩50,000 (≈ $35)₩125,000 (≈ $90)
Hands or feetThe backs of the hands and fingers, or the tops of the feet and toes — small fields with sparse growth₩30,000 (≈ $20)₩75,000 (≈ $55)₩50,000 (≈ $35)₩125,000 (≈ $90)
Arm, upper or lower halfShoulder to elbow, or elbow to wrist, quoted as one half at a time₩140,000 (≈ $100)₩350,000 (≈ $250)₩180,000 (≈ $130)₩450,000 (≈ $320)
Abdomen, upper or lower halfAbove or below the navel, again quoted as one half at a time₩170,000 (≈ $120)₩440,000 (≈ $315)₩210,000 (≈ $150)₩540,000 (≈ $385)

Two reading notes. The men's line for an identically named zone is listed higher, because those fields are typically denser and coarser and take longer under the handpiece. And an arm or an abdomen is halved on purpose, since quoting the whole limb would overcharge anyone who only cares about the forearm.

This card is a slice of a much longer one. Facial fields, the back, calves, thighs, the bikini line and the chest are all published as their own lines: the laser hair removal page carries the treatment in full, body hair removal goes deeper on the fields below the neck, and full body hair removal pricing adds the zones together for a multi-field plan.

The Platform

Two wavelengths behind one hair removal handpiece

The GentleMax Pro carries both a 755 nm alexandrite and a 1064 nm Nd:YAG source with dynamic cooling built into the delivery. Energy is absorbed by the pigment in the hair and carried down the shaft; the cooling spray protects the skin surface while that happens.
755 nm alexandrite is strongly absorbed by melanin. That makes it efficient on hair carrying good pigment against skin carrying comparatively little, and it is the usual choice for a fair-skinned forearm with dark growth.
1064 nm Nd:YAG penetrates further and is absorbed less by surface pigment. That is what makes deeper skin tones treatable at all, and the comparative literature listed at the foot of this page examines exactly this trade-off between the two wavelengths in darker phototypes.
Dynamic cooling changes what the skin experiences. A cryogen burst immediately before each pulse drops the surface temperature, so the energy works at the follicle while the epidermis is protected. It is also why a treated field feels cold and prickly during a pass.
The wavelength is a clinical decision made in the room. Skin tone, hair colour, hair thickness and recent sun exposure all go into it. Where the zone sits on the face, the EVE Muse 3D capture under five light sources supplies the same reading that plans the rest of your face.

Laser hair removal produces long-term reduction in the treated field. Hair that returns is generally finer and sparser than the growth you started with, and that is the outcome the published work supports. A field that never grows again is outside what this technology does.

Before You Come

How to arrive ready for a hair removal appointment

Preparation here is unusually consequential. Three of the five points below decide whether your field can be treated safely on the day, and every one is something you control in the week beforehand.
Shave the field, and shave it close. Hair above the skin absorbs energy that should be reaching the follicle, and long growth scorches at the surface. A clean shave on the day before or the morning of the appointment is what the pass is designed around.
Stop waxing, plucking, threading and epilating well in advance. Each of those pulls the root out of the follicle, and the root is the structure the energy is aiming at. Arrive having removed the target and the pass has nothing to act on. Shaving and trimming leave the follicle intact and are fine throughout.
Keep the field out of strong sun, and skip self-tanner entirely. A tan raises the pigment in your skin, which changes how much energy the surface absorbs and raises the risk of a burn or a patch of lightened skin. Fake tan does the same thing chemically and is a common reason a visit has to be rescheduled.
Come with the field clean and bare. Deodorant, lotion, oil and make-up are removed before a pass, so leaving them off saves time and avoids anything heating unpredictably at the surface.
Tell us about medication, recent skin treatment and your skin history. Anything that makes skin more light-sensitive, recent resurfacing over the same field, a history of pigment reacting badly, cold sores near a facial zone — all of it changes the settings or the timing, and all of it is reviewed at your consultation.
In The Room

What one hair removal visit actually involves

The sequence is the same whether you booked an underarm or both forearms.

01
Reading the field

Skin tone and hair are assessed before a wavelength is chosen

Your director looks at the contrast between the hair and the skin around it, at how coarse the growth is, and at whether the field has seen recent sun. That reading decides which source is loaded and how the parameters are set, and it is redone at every visit because skin changes with the season.

02
Setting up

Eye protection, a clean field and a small starting area

Everyone in the room wears eye protection for the wavelength in use. The field is cleaned, and the first pulses are placed over a limited area so the response of your skin can be watched before the rest of the zone is covered. Comfort measures for your appointment are confirmed at your consultation.

03
The pass

Overlapping pulses, cooled, across the whole named zone

The handpiece moves in overlapping placements so no part of the field is missed and no part takes a double dose. Each pulse arrives with its cooling burst, so the sensation most people describe is a cold snap rather than sustained heat. An underarm is quick; a pair of forearms takes noticeably longer.

04
Checking out

The field is inspected and your next step is agreed

The treated skin is looked at before you leave, cooled if it needs it, and you are told what the next days should look like. If the zone is part of a block of five, the timing of the following visit is set with you then, against how your own growth behaves and never off a fixed calendar.

Afterwards

The days after a hair removal pass, and what is normal in them

Most people go straight back to their day. The treated field is usually pink with small raised bumps around each follicle, which looks a little like goosebumps and is the expected response to energy having reached the root.
Cool it and leave it alone. A cool compress and a plain, unscented moisturiser are enough for the flush. Scrubbing and exfoliating acids can wait until the redness has gone.
Heat is the thing to avoid. Sauna, hot yoga, a long soak, a pool and a heavy gym session all belong on the far side of the first day or two.
Protect the field from sun until the next visit. Treated skin is temporarily more reactive to light, and sun between visits is the commonest cause of a rescheduled appointment. Sunscreen on exposed zones, clothing over the rest.
What looks like regrowth is often shedding. Treated hairs work their way out of the follicle over the following days and can look exactly like new growth. Let them shed; a wash or a shave clears them.
Between visits, shave and nothing else. Shaving keeps the field tidy without disturbing the follicle. Waxing or plucking between appointments removes the target for the next pass and undoes part of what you paid for.
Call us if something looks wrong. Blistering, a burn, a patch of skin that has gone lighter or darker than the rest, or redness still building after two days all need to be seen. They are uncommon and manageable, and far easier to deal with early.
Where We Say No

Hair removal fields and days we turn down

Some of these send you home with a new date, and one of them means the treatment is not for you at all. Hearing it before you have paid is the point of a consultation.
A fresh tan, a sunburn or self-tanner on the field. The energy cannot tell the difference between pigment in a follicle and pigment in the skin over it, so a tanned field is a burn risk and a hypopigmentation risk. That appointment is moved, and we would rather move it than treat it.
Hair without pigment. White, grey and very fine pale blond hair gives the laser almost nothing to absorb, and no number of visits changes the physics. Where that is what the field looks like, we say so and decline the plan instead of selling a block against it.
Broken, infected or actively inflamed skin in the zone. Open skin, an active flare, a healing wound or a rash over the field all wait, as does a recent peel or resurfacing treatment on the same area.
A tattoo inside the field. Tattoo ink absorbs laser energy strongly and will burn, so a tattooed area is worked around with a clear margin — which sometimes means the zone cannot be covered as published.
An expectation the treatment cannot meet. Anyone asking for a field that will never grow hair again is being asked to hear the word reduction instead. What the treatment genuinely delivers is a field that is far lighter, much slower and easier to live with, maintained by occasional visits.
Dear, Knowhow

How hair removal is run at Dear Clinic

01 · Both wavelengths, one appointment. The alexandrite and the Nd:YAG live in the same console, so the choice between them is clinical and immediate, and it is never limited by what the building happens to own.
02 · The reading comes before the parameters. Skin tone, hair contrast and recent sun exposure are assessed at every visit, and settings follow that assessment. A field treated in August and the same field in January are not the same job.
03 · Director-performed, rates already on the page. Your session is carried out by a director, the figure for your zone is published before you walk in, and the clinic is open 365 days with English-language consultation.

FAQ

Planning hair removal in Gangnam, question by question

Which hair removal zones does Dear Clinic publish a rate for?
Every field is listed individually, with a women's line and a men's line, each showing a single visit beside a block of five. The four zones on this page are the underarm, the hands or feet, one half of an arm and one half of the abdomen. Facial fields, back, calves, thighs, bikini and chest carry published lines of their own.
Why are the men's rates higher for the same named zone?
Because the field is usually a different job. Male growth in these zones tends to be denser and coarser, which means more time under the handpiece to cover the same named area. The naming is identical; the work inside it differs, and the card reflects that instead of averaging it away.
Should I buy a single visit or a block of five?
Take a single visit if you want to see how your own field responds before committing further; it is a perfectly reasonable place to start. The block is listed for people who already know they want a repeat plan on a zone, and your director will say which your field justifies.
How should I prepare the day before?
Shave the field close, leave waxing and plucking well alone, keep the area out of strong sun and skip any self-tanner. On the day, arrive with the zone clean and free of deodorant, lotion or make-up. That is the whole list, and the first three items are the ones that decide whether the appointment can go ahead.
Does it hurt, and what does the sensation feel like?
Most people describe a snap with a cold edge to it, because every pulse arrives with a cryogen burst from the dynamic cooling. Coarse fields register more than sparse ones, and bony areas more than fleshy ones. Comfort measures are confirmed at your consultation.
Can I be treated if my skin is deeply pigmented?
Yes, and that is exactly why the platform carries two sources. The 1064 nm Nd:YAG is absorbed less by surface pigment and reaches the follicle with the epidermis better protected, the configuration studied in the comparative papers listed below. Your tone is assessed at every visit.
I have a tan from a holiday. Can I still be treated?
Not on a fresh tan. Raised pigment in the skin absorbs energy meant for the follicle, which is how burns and lightened patches happen. The appointment is rescheduled for once the tan has faded, and the same applies to self-tanner, which has to be fully off the field and not merely faded.
What can I do the same evening, and what should wait?
Work, errands and a normal evening are fine. Sauna, hot yoga, pools, long hot showers and a hard gym session are worth leaving until the flush has settled, because heat and friction over a freshly treated field turn an ordinary reaction into irritation.
Hair seems to be growing back a week later. Is it working?
What you are usually seeing is shedding. Treated hairs are pushed out of the follicle over the days that follow and look identical to new growth arriving. Let them work their way out and clear them with a wash or a shave. Plucking them is the one thing to avoid, since it disturbs follicles the next pass is meant to reach.
Will my hair stop growing altogether?
No, and nobody should tell you otherwise. What this treatment produces is long-term reduction: markedly less hair in the treated field, finer and slower in what remains, kept that way with occasional visits. If a field with no growth at all is what you are looking for, we will tell you honestly that this is not it.
Can I have hair removal on the same day I come in for a consultation?
Often, provided the field is shaved and out of the sun, and provided nothing in your skin history or medication needs looking into first. The clinic is open 365 days, so a zone can usually be fitted around a working week or a short trip.
Do visitors from abroad pay a different rate, and how do I arrange it?
The published card is the same for residents and visitors, with no surcharge attached to a passport, and consultations run in English. Send the list of zones you care about through the form below and you will have a written plan and a figure before you travel.

Scientific Evidence

Published work behind 755 nm and 1064 nm hair reduction

The papers below examine what lasers and light sources achieve in long-term hair reduction, how the alexandrite and Nd:YAG wavelengths compare in darker phototypes, and what a 755 nm alexandrite delivers through a wide spot. None of them prescribes a plan for an individual field, and no schedule on this page is derived from them.
