Tattoo Removal Guide for Cheongdam, Gangnam, Seoul

What a course can achieve is decided by the ink itself, by the skin it sits in, and by how patiently the two are worked. This guide covers what your director reads at the first appointment, what a session involves, what the weeks between visits ask of you, and the risks named before anything starts.

What is in the skin

What your tattoo is made of, and why that changes the plan

Laser tattoo removal breaks deposited pigment into fragments small enough for the body to clear, over a course of visits spaced weeks apart. How far a piece fades depends on the colour of the ink, how deep it was laid, how long it has been in the skin, and how densely it was packed. Body ink and cosmetic brow or eyeliner ink carry separate listed lines here.
01

Colour of the pigment

Dense black and dark blue-black absorb light across a wide band and are the most predictable to work on. Reds, greens, purples and light blues absorb selectively, so they respond at their own pace and are read individually at the consultation.

02

Depth of the deposit

Two tattoos of identical size can sit at different levels in the dermis depending on the hand that made them. Deeper pigment is further from the surface and slower to clear, which is why an assessment reads shading and saturation before anything is promised.

03

Age of the piece

Ink that has been in the skin for years has usually already lost some particles to the immune system, and what remains is frequently easier to move than a recent, fully saturated piece.

04

How it was applied

Hand-poked and amateur work tends to be shallower and unevenly packed. Professional linework is denser and more consistent. Cosmetic brow and eyeliner pigments behave differently again, because their formulations are not the same materials as body ink.

Layered work is the case that most often surprises people. A cover-up hides an older tattoo under a newer one, and clearing the top layer can bring the buried design back into view before either has finished fading. Where the assessment suggests that, your director says so at the consultation. The treatment page for this route is tattoo removal in Cheongdam, and the wider light and energy floor is set out in the laser, pigment and acne hub.

The other half of the equation

How your own skin changes the way ink is approached

The ink is only one of the two materials in the field. The skin holding it decides how hard that ink can be pushed.

Melanin in the surrounding skin — the same wavelength that targets ink is also absorbed by skin pigment. Deeper tones are therefore worked at lower energy with longer gaps, which is a safety decision about the skin and not a judgement about the tattoo.
A recent tan — sun-darkened skin over a tattoo moves the appointment. Treating through fresh tan raises the chance of a burn and of colour change in the skin around the design.
Where the piece sits — areas with generous circulation clear fragmented pigment more readily than the far end of a limb, where the same energy is followed by slower clearance.
How your skin has healed before — a history of thickened or raised scarring changes both the settings and the conversation about what the end point realistically looks like.
What the skin is already carrying — irritation, broken surface or active infection over the field postpones a session until it has settled.
Door to door

What one tattoo removal appointment actually involves

Step 01

The piece is read and measured

Your director examines colour, density, depth and the condition of the surrounding skin, photographs the design under fixed lighting, and measures it, since the listed unit here is counted in centimetres across the piece.

Step 02

The platform and settings are chosen

Which platform is used and at what settings is decided in the room against your ink and your skin. Comfort measures around the session are confirmed at the consultation, and a small test area may be worked first where the skin or the pigment is unusual.

Step 03

The pass itself, then cooling

The pass is quick relative to the appointment around it. Treated ink typically turns to a pale frost within seconds, which settles over the following minutes; the area is then cooled and dressed before you leave.

The clinic day around that is deliberately unhurried. The scan, the consultation and the agreed plan come before any energy is delivered, and the EVE Muse 3D imaging platform with five light sources and AI analysis carries the facial half where cosmetic brow or eyeliner ink is involved. Every session is director-performed from measurement through to dressing.

Visits are spaced by weeks, not days, because the body needs that interval to carry away the fragmented pigment. The general principle used here is a gap of six to eight weeks between passes over the same field, set against how your own skin has settled. Nobody can tell you in advance how many visits your piece will take, and a range is only written once the design has been seen in person.

Between visits

Looking after treated ink in the weeks that follow a pass

Leave the surface closed — blisters and crusts over treated ink are part of the described healing pattern. Opening them is the single most reliable way to convert a temporary mark into a lasting one.
Keep it covered from daylight — clothing or high-factor sunscreen over the field for as long as your director specifies. Sun on healing skin over ink invites colour change around the design.
Short, cool showers — pools, saunas, hot tubs and long soaks pause while the surface is repairing, and a treated area is patted dry instead of rubbed.
Hold the training back — heat, sweat and friction over a fresh field are all reasons to give the gym a few days, particularly where the piece sits under a strap or a waistband.
Photograph it in the same light — one picture before the next visit, taken where the first was taken, tells your director more about progress than an impression formed in a bathroom mirror.

Fading continues between appointments, so the design you see the day after a pass is not the one assessed at the next review. That lag is why a plan here is revised visit by visit against photographs instead of being sold as a fixed block.

Named before you agree

The risks put on the table before an ink course begins

None of these are hypothetical. They are the reasons energy is chosen conservatively and intervals are kept long.

Loss of pigment in the skin — hypopigmentation, meaning a patch of skin left paler than the skin around it, is a recognised outcome of laser work over ink. It is more likely where energy has been pushed and where the surrounding skin is naturally darker.
Darkening of the skin after treatment — the opposite response, where treated skin turns browner for a period afterwards, is common on higher-melanin skin and is one reason sunscreen is insisted on between visits.
Paradoxical darkening of cosmetic ink — brow, lip and eyeliner pigments can turn darker or grey immediately after a pass instead of lighter, a recognised reaction of certain cosmetic pigment formulations. This is why a small test area is the sensible opening move on cosmetic work.
Blistering, crusting and infection — the surface can open after a pass, and an open surface can become infected. This is the reason the aftercare above is instruction rather than suggestion.
Textural change and scarring — raised or indented texture at the treated site is uncommon but possible, and prior scarring history raises it.
An end point short of clearance — complete removal is not something any clinic can promise for every piece. Some pigment, particularly in certain colours, can plateau, and a realistic ceiling is discussed before the first payment.

Results vary between individuals. The published references at the foot of this page describe the general behaviour of laser work over ink; none of them describe your piece, and neither does this page.

Dear, Knowhow

Why ink is worked slowly here and measured before it is quoted

01 — THE FULL ARSENAL

Ink is one route among many on this floor

Because the building runs a full range of light, energy and needle work, an ink course is never the thing that has to be sold. Where a piece is a poor candidate, saying so costs this clinic nothing.

02 — DIAGNOSIS FIRST

Colour, depth and skin read in the room

The design is examined and photographed under fixed lighting, with the EVE Muse scan carrying the facial half where cosmetic ink is involved. A photograph sent by message is a starting point and never the assessment itself.

03 — DIRECTOR-PERFORMED

The same hand from the measurement to the dressing

Your session is director-performed throughout. On ink, where energy sits close to the skin's own pigment, having the person who chose the settings also deliver them is the safeguard that matters.

Published rates

The two units ink work is listed by in Cheongdam

Two lines carry ink work here. Body tattoo removal is listed per five centimetres of the piece at ₩90,000 (≈ $65), and cosmetic brow or eyeliner pigment has its own line at ₩150,000 (≈ $105). Both are per visit, and the measurement that decides which units apply to your design is taken in the room.
LineUnit it is counted inListed rate
Body tattoo removalPer five centimetres of the piece, per visit₩90,000 (≈ $65)
Eyebrow or eyeliner pigmentPer visit, cosmetic ink₩150,000 (≈ $105)

Figures current for September 2026, quoted in KRW with a USD equivalent shown for orientation only. A resident of Seoul and a visitor flying in are quoted the same line for identical work. Because a course runs across weeks, the total depends on how your ink answers, and the full sheet sits on the price list.

Caution

Things to get right around every ink appointment

Stop deliberate sun exposure and self-tanning over the piece well before the date.
Tell your director about any history of raised scarring, cold sores near the field, or recent medication changes.
Keep the dressing as instructed and leave blisters and crusts intact until they release on their own.
Do not book a pass immediately before a beach holiday, a wedding or a long flight in a window seat over the treated arm.
Call the clinic if the area becomes hot, swollen and increasingly painful after the first day, or if a blister opens and weeps.

FAQ

Planning tattoo removal in Seoul, answered

My tattoo has several colours. Will they all fade at the same speed?
Almost certainly not. Dense black and blue-black absorb across a wide band and tend to move first, while reds, greens, purples and pale blues absorb selectively and follow at their own pace. A multicoloured piece therefore passes through a stage where it looks uneven, and your director describes that stage in advance so it is not a surprise halfway through.
Does the age of my tattoo make a difference?
It usually does. Ink that has sat in the skin for years has already lost particles to the body's own clearance, so what remains is often less saturated than a recent piece. Age is read alongside depth and density at the assessment instead of being treated as a rule of its own.
Is an amateur tattoo treated differently from a professional one?
The approach is the same but the field behaves differently. Hand-poked and amateur work is often shallower and irregularly packed, so it can respond unevenly across a single design. Professional linework is denser and more uniform, which makes its behaviour more predictable even where it takes patience.
What is paradoxical darkening, and can it be corrected?
It is a recognised reaction in which certain cosmetic pigments — brow, lip and eyeliner formulations in particular — turn darker or grey immediately after a pass instead of lighter. Because it is a property of the pigment chemistry, the way it is managed is prevention: a small test area is worked first on cosmetic ink, and how the discoloured area is handled afterwards is discussed with your director case by case.
Which laser platform will be used on my tattoo?
The platform and its settings are set at the consultation against your ink and your skin, and we do not publish a device name on this page for a route where the choice is made in the room. What is published is the line the work is charged on and the fact that your director selects and delivers it.
Does my skin tone change what is possible?
It changes how the work is delivered more than what can be attempted. The same light that targets ink is also absorbed by skin pigment, so deeper tones are treated at lower energy with longer intervals to reduce the chance of the skin lightening or darkening around the design. That is a safety decision about your skin.
What actually happens during the pass itself?
The piece is measured and photographed, comfort measures agreed at the consultation are applied, and the pass is delivered. Treated ink typically turns to a pale frost within seconds and that settles over the following minutes, after which the area is cooled and dressed. The pass is short; the appointment around it is not rushed.
Can I shower, swim or train after a session?
Short cool showers are fine once your director clears them. Pools, saunas, hot tubs and long soaks wait while the surface repairs, and training is held back where heat, sweat or a strap would sit over the treated field. Pat the area dry and leave any dressing as instructed.
What should I weigh up before agreeing to a course?
Loss of skin pigment in the treated patch, temporary darkening of the surrounding skin, blistering and the infection risk that comes with an open surface, textural change where scarring history exists, and the possibility that a piece plateaus short of clearance. Those are named at the consultation before any figure is agreed.
Can eyebrow and eyeliner pigment be treated the same way as body ink?
It is treated on its own listed line at ₩150,000 (≈ $105) and with more caution, because cosmetic pigment formulations are not body ink and some of them darken on contact with laser light. Proximity to the eye also changes how the field is protected. A test area comes first.
Is there a tattoo you would decline to treat?
Yes. Skin that is sunburnt, freshly tanned, broken or infected over the design moves the date instead of being worked at a reduced setting. Where a piece sits on skin with a history of raised scarring, the plan opens with a stated ceiling. And where someone wants a large dense piece gone inside a fortnight's holiday, we say the calendar does not permit it.
How do I get my piece assessed before flying to Seoul?
Send the consultation form with photographs of the whole design and one close-range shot in daylight, note roughly when it was done and whether it covers anything older, and tell us your dates. We reply in English as soon as possible with what we would expect to propose and what still has to be measured in person. The rooms run 365 days a year, so the appointment itself is rarely the constraint.
