Direct answer

What can be done about acne that is inflamed right now

A live breakout is treated here with devices and injections, not prescriptions. Radiofrequency delivered through an insulated microneedle heats the sebaceous gland under a returning lesion, a jet injector reaches deeper ones, toning works on the brown marks a flare leaves, a vascular pass works on the red ones, and micro-dosed toxin addresses oil across a whole face.

This page is written for the visit where something hurts and is visible. It is a separate question from scar repair, which begins months later and uses different settings, and it is a separate question again from what medication can do, which is a physician's territory and stays there.

The practical value of coming in during a flare is that a lesion can be treated at the point where it is still a lesson about oil and pressure, before it becomes a permanent change in the surface of your cheek. That timing argument runs through the whole page.

Reading the breakout

Comedones, papules and nodules are not one problem

What is on your face on the day of the consultation decides which of the five routes is marked, and how much of the face is touched.

01

Congestion with little redness

Closed bumps across the forehead and nose, rough to the fingertip, barely inflamed. Oil volume and follicle blockage dominate, so the plan leans toward field work across a zone instead of point treatment.

02

Papules and pustules on a flare

Raised, red and short-lived, arriving in crops. These are the lesions that leave colour behind, and the decision at consultation is how many are worth marking individually versus letting settle.

03

Deep tender nodules

Lesions that sit low in the skin, hurt to touch and last weeks. They are the ones that scar, and they are the reason jet delivery exists on the menu below.

04

The aftermath of the last crop

Brown stains and red patches that persist long after the lesion has flattened. Both are treatable, both are slower than people expect, and neither is touched while the skin beside them is still angry.

Most faces arrive with three of those four at once, in different proportions on each cheek. Sorting them is what the scan and the consultation are for, and it usually means fewer points are treated on the first visit than a person expects.

Diagnosis

What the EVE Muse scan adds to looking at a breakout

EVE Muse 3D imaging photographs the face under five light sources with AI analysis. Oil distribution, live inflammation and older colour separate on screen into three overlapping maps, and the lesions worth marking are chosen from that rather than from a mirror.

A phone camera flattens all of this into one congested-looking face. Under multi-spectrum capture the forehead may read as oil with almost no inflammation while the jaw reads the opposite, which changes where energy goes and how much of the face is left alone.

The capture is stored, so the second visit is a comparison and not a fresh opinion. That is also what makes stopping possible: if the map is unchanged after a course, the plan is reconsidered instead of repeated.

What is offered

Five routes run for active acne at Dear Clinic

Every line below is on the published list. Most plans use two of them, and several people leave the first visit having had one.

RouteMechanismAimed atListed rate
Agnes / PTT / MLA, full faceInsulated microneedle radiofrequency. The shaft is insulated so energy is released at the tip only, heating the targeted sebaceous gland while the surface above it is spared.Lesions that keep returning to the same few points; oily, pore-visible zones₩250,000 (≈ $180)
CureJet, full faceNeedle-free jet injection. Pressure carries material through the surface without a needle crossing it.Deeper, tender lesions and the tethered skin they leave behind₩500,000 (≈ $355)
Dual Laser Toning with in-clinic skincareLow-fluence 1064 nm Nd:YAG passes worked across a field as a dual-wavelength session, with skincare in the same appointment.Brown marks left after lesions settle₩200,000 (≈ $145)
Excel V, laser onlyA 532/1064 nm vascular and pigment laser from Cutera, worked on the vessels feeding a red mark.Red patches that stay after a spot has flattened₩150,000 (≈ $105)
Full-face skin botox, Korean tierBotulinum toxin diluted and placed as shallow micro-droplets across the face, spread in the skin layer instead of concentrated in a muscle.Oil output and coarse surface texture over a whole face₩150,000 (≈ $105)

Figures are the September 2026 published rates in KRW, with a USD equivalent beside them for orientation. A Seoul resident and a visitor are quoted the identical line. Your own plan is written out with its total before anything is switched on, and the consultation is where fees for aftercare or products are explained.

Each route has a page of its own: Agnes, CureJet, dual laser toning, Excel V and skin botox. Where the damage is already a dent in the surface, that work lives on the acne scar page, and the whole energy-device category sits on the laser, pigment and acne hub.

The limits

Where device work for acne stops and a physician takes over

Worth reading before the price table above turns into a plan.

No prescriptions are written on this page. Oral and prescription topical acne treatment is a medical decision that needs examination, monitoring and follow-up over months. If your presentation calls for it, you will be told at the consultation, and nothing is treated that day.
Nothing here ends acne for good. The drivers of a breakout are genetic, hormonal and behavioural, and an energy device reaches one defined slice of that. A route that promised otherwise would be a sentence nobody could stand behind.
Named risks come with each route. Gland-targeted radiofrequency leaves redness, swelling and small crusts at treated points. Jet delivery can bruise, particularly on thin skin. Repeated low-fluence toning has documented mottled hypopigmentation and rebound darkening in the literature, which is why energy stays conservative and intervals are respected.
Some skin is turned away on the day. A face in the middle of a severe flare, skin that is broken or recently over-exfoliated, and certain current medications are all reasons the session is rescheduled. We do not recommend treating through any of those.

Acne that needs a medical consultation first

Numerous deep lesions across several zones, a pattern that changed abruptly, lesions already scarring as they heal, or a breakout that began with a new medication. Those are examinations, not appointments for a device, and we will say so plainly.

What still gets treated alongside medication

Individual recurring lesions and the marks left by old ones sit comfortably beside medical management, provided your prescribing doctor knows what is being done here. Bring the names of everything you take, topicals included, because a few of them change what is safe on the day.

Timing

Treating a lesion while it is still a lesion, before it becomes a scar

Scar repair is the most expensive work in this building and the slowest to show. Subcision, needling and resurfacing are all available here, and every person who needs them once had a lesion that could have been addressed earlier. That is the entire argument for booking during a flare instead of after it.

There is also a pattern worth naming: the belt along the chin and lower jaw where the same small number of glands produce lesions again and again. People can usually point to their own recurrence points from memory. That repetition is exactly the situation an insulated microneedle was designed for, because a gland treated individually is a different proposition from a whole cheek treated evenly.

STAGE 01

Settle what is inflamed

Point work on the marked lesions, or jet delivery where one sits deep. A face carrying many active lesions becomes a plan across visits, and that is said out loud before anything is booked.

STAGE 02

Then take the colour off

Brown marks go to the toning route and red ones to the vascular laser, once the surrounding skin has quietened. Starting either during a flare risks adding colour to the face it was meant to clear.

STAGE 03

Decide whether contour work is needed

Only after both of the above can anyone tell a stain apart from a dent. If what is left is a change in the surface, the conversation moves to the scar protocol and is priced separately.

Dear, Knowhow

How an active acne visit is decided here

01 — THE FULL ARSENAL

Five acne routes compete on one published list

Radiofrequency, jet delivery, toning, a vascular platform and micro-dosed toxin are all in the building with rates you can read in advance, so the cheaper line is a real option when the scan points at it.

02 — DIAGNOSIS FIRST

Oil, inflammation and old colour split before marking

EVE Muse 3D capture under five light sources with AI analysis pulls apart three things that look like one congested face at arm's length. It is also the step that catches the visits that should not happen: a barrier too irritated to treat this week, or a presentation that belongs with a physician before it belongs with any device.

03 — DIRECTOR-PERFORMED

Energy set at each point, with an early stop available

Sessions are director-performed, point by point, which is why the appointment runs long. It is also why a plan can be cut short mid-course when the stored capture stops moving.

Caution

The days after an active acne session, point by treated point

Treated points go red, swell a little and may crust. That is the expected course after gland-targeted work, settling over the following days in most people. Leave the crusts to lift on their own.
Bruising is on the table with jet delivery. More likely on thin or already inflamed skin, and worth allowing for if something is in the diary that week.
Sunscreen every morning, indoors included. Pigment provoked in the window after a session is harder work than the mark you arrived with, and the toning route cannot outrun a face that keeps being exposed.
Retinoids, acids and scrubs pause. You are given a window for each and told when to restart them; restarting early is the most common reason a second session is delayed.
Call if day three is worse than day one. Spreading redness, heat, or a point that has become more painful is a reason to be looked at in person rather than messaged about.

Comfort measures during the session are confirmed with your director at the consultation. The clinic is open 365 days a year, consultation is conducted in English, and a check-in after a session does not have to wait for a weekday.

FAQ

Active acne in Cheongdam, your questions answered

Can you treat acne that is inflamed today, or should I wait?
Lesions that are currently inflamed are exactly what gland-targeted radiofrequency and jet delivery are for, so a visit during a flare is usually the right time. The exception is a face in the middle of a severe widespread flare or one that is broken and raw, where treating adds injury to a barrier that is already struggling. Your director decides which of the two you are on the day.
How much does active acne treatment cost in Seoul?
It depends which routes your plan uses. Gland-targeted radiofrequency on a full face is ₩250,000 (≈ $180), jet delivery is ₩500,000 (≈ $355), a dual toning session with in-clinic skincare is ₩200,000 (≈ $145), a vascular pass is ₩150,000 (≈ $105) and full-face skin botox on the Korean tier is ₩150,000 (≈ $105). The total for your own plan is written out before anything begins.
Do you prescribe acne medication here?
No. This page covers device and injection work only. Prescription and oral acne treatment needs examination, monitoring and follow-up over months, and that belongs with a physician who can provide all three. Where your presentation calls for that route, you are told at the consultation and nothing is treated that visit.
Will this stop new spots appearing?
It will not, and nobody here will claim it does. Gland-targeted work aims at the particular glands producing lesions in the same few places, and the rest of the plan aims at the marks each flare leaves. Whether fresh lesions appear on untreated parts of the face depends on drivers an energy device does not reach.
What is the difference between this and the acne scar page?
Timing and target. This page is about lesions and colour while a breakout is live. The scar work is about contour once everything has settled, which is months later and uses release, needling and resurfacing at settings that would be wrong on inflamed skin. Doing them in the correct order is cheaper than doing them together.
Why do my breakouts keep landing on my chin and jaw?
Lower-face recurrence in the same small number of spots is one of the most common adult patterns, and it usually means a defined set of glands doing the work. That is useful planning information because it points toward treating those points individually. It is a clue about how to treat, though, and not a diagnosis of any underlying cause.
How many sessions will I need?
No number is published, because it depends on how many lesions are active, how deep they sit and what your stored capture shows at each review. The plan is described at the consultation with the cost of each visit stated, and sessions are paid as they happen, so you can stop at any review without having prepaid a course.
Can the brown marks and the red marks be treated in the same visit?
They run on different platforms. Brown goes to the low-fluence toning route and red to the 532/1064 nm vascular laser, and both are held back until the surrounding skin is calm. Where a face is already quiet, the two can sometimes be sequenced close together, and your director will say whether yours is.
Does skin botox help with breakouts?
It is aimed at oil output and coarse texture across a whole face, so it sits beside lesion work instead of replacing it. Full-face skin botox on the Korean tier is ₩150,000 (≈ $105) here. Where the scan says live inflammation is the main event, that is handled first and this stays a later conversation.
What does the session feel like and how long is the downtime?
Expect the treated points to be red and slightly swollen afterwards, with small crusts at some of them for a few days. Comfort measures during the session are confirmed with your director at the consultation. Plan around anything important in that window and leave the treated points alone while they settle.
Are there days you would refuse to treat me?
Yes. Acutely inflamed or barrier-damaged skin, recent aggressive exfoliation, certain current medications, and a presentation that needs medical management first are all reasons we reschedule or decline. A session forced through on skin in that state costs a visit and risks a worse week.
I am in Seoul for a few days. Is a single session worth it?
For a handful of specific recurring lesions, one session is a complete piece of work that commits you to nothing further. For a widely active face or for mark work, a single visit is the opening of a plan you would continue at home, and you are told which of the two applies before you book. The clinic is open 365 days a year, so the date is rarely the obstacle.

Scientific Evidence

What the trials report on gland-targeted radiofrequency for acne

Four of the references below examine microneedle radiofrequency directed at sebaceous glands in acne, including a randomised controlled study, an early prospective pilot, a series in Korean patients with inflammatory acne and a split-face comparison of two fractional radiofrequency approaches. The fifth concerns low-fluence 1064 nm work and is listed because that is the route used here for the marks a flare leaves.

That last paper is included deliberately: it traces melanin and melanocyte changes in mottled hypopigmentation after repeated low-fluence treatment, and it is the reason toning energy at this clinic stays conservative and a course is stopped when a stored capture stops moving.
